To all of you who have written congratulating us on our wedding, please, please be aware that the photos were from a wedding that we attended before our travels and had been lying about on the travel blog un published. I was mucking about on the blog yesterday and decided to publish them. We are both still single, still seeing each other BUT definitely NOT married!! Ken... read more

Counting down! So, this would have been published a couple of weeks ago, however as I was stung by a crash on Travelblog, I've spent some time repairing that. Most of my Cambridge blog has reappeared, but not all of it, so that's a task as yet incomplete. I'll get to it eventually. Odds on Mum and Dad will have a copy of the text somewhere, so it might wait till I get home and dissemble the thing anyway. Secondly, if I add any images to this blog entry, the text starts disappearing so I'll look into that tomorrow and hopefully get them up. I have no idea what it's doing! So, this is summer. Now, I'll admit, it's the middle of August while I'm writing this and it's raining and cold out. I put ... read more

This article has been re-published due to system failure. Saturday, July 21st: Milton Keynes came into our sights this day. We stretched our legs after seventy days of walking, having first moved north out of Dublin, walking up to Belfast, then riding east into Scotland. Starting from Faslane Trident Submarine Base just out of Glasgow, our United Kingdom exploration began. The footpaths and roads guided us south along the Irish Sea until we crossed up and over and into the Midlands. Now, a mere two weeks north of London, the days ahead seem to vanish quickly, and the completion of this pilgrimage for a nuclear-free future will end only to begin again. Milton Keynes is home to Honda-shonin, our accompanying Nipponzan Myohoji monk, and as we neared his temple in Willen Peace Park I could see ... read more

I just finished packing everything that I could pack right now. I have a lot of stuff. It is wonderful. Tonight is our Gala Dinner. I have to be at deer park in two hours. I'm still doing my laundry and need to shower and get ready. But what am I doing... writing a blog. Very nice. I went and finished my shopping. I got lots of cool things for people, including Teacakes and Turkish Delight. Did anyone else not know that Turkish Delight was a real thing?? I went to the Modern Art Museum and the Ashmolean today. I saw lots of things from my art history classes at the Ashmolean which was neat. Tomorrow I will be on my way to Finland!! I'm so excited. I'm going to make sure I'm up extra early ... read more

It is raining yet again today. Yesterday I went to Christ Church Meadow to see the flooding. It was crazy. Brasenose is located practically in the center of the city centre. We are a good distance from the Thames and Ibis. From our college, you would have no idea that there is any flooding whatsoever. Chirst Church is located right along the Thames. I took pictures and you'd have to see them to understand. But what looks like should be a pond or lake should really be grass. I'm not sure how deep it is. Along the path, it wasn't very deep. If it would only stop raining... Last night we went and saw The Rivals. It was the last play we are seeing. It was okay. I didn't particularly like the play to begin with ... read more

Yesterday was my day long London trip. The Globe tour was highly disappointing. All the guide did was talk, and we didn't get to go backstage or anything because they were building a set, so we just sat in the seats and saw what we saw when we came for Love's Labour's Lost. The National Theatre tour, however, was awesome. We got to go backstage, see the set building area and the prop making area, we saw some dressing rooms, and we saw two of the three stages. We also saw the understudy reherseal for St. Joan. I personally liked the performance of St. Joan. I thought it was a pretty powerful play. Everyone complained about Joan, said she was too whiney (I think I just made up a word) and that her cry was too ... read more

We just got back from Blenheim Palace. It was pretty neat. We did a short guided tour of the palace; they don't let you see as much as I would like and they didn't let you take pictures which sucked. There was another "tour" type of a thing going on upstairs but I didn't go to it-- and everyone told me it wasn't worth going to anyway. Instead after our tour I walked around the grounds of the palace. It was huge!! There was a "secret" garden, even though there were signs all over the place pointing to it, which was really pretty. I think my favorite thing was the rose garden. It was a massive circle with a statue in the center. There were rows upon rows of roses around this circle, and each row ... read more

Oh I just realized how little time I have left here! Angie and I were talking about how we are going to cry at the gala dinner. Haha... no but seriously, I probably will. Last night was very uneventful. We went out to dinner at Old Orleans- American style restaurant. We wanted to go to Bella Italia, but it was packed. I had Penne Pesto; it was very good. Then everyone went to go read Harry Potter, so Tom, Mike, Chris, and I went to Sainsbury's then to Tom's room and watched YouTube videos. Woo! Haha. Today has been nice so far. A little chilly but the sun is out and it doesn't look like it is going to start pouring (but it is England so that could hang in an instant). I decided since it ... read more

So I found out yesterday was the most rainfall that England has gotten in a single day in over 40 years. There were flash floods everywhere! Angie was trying to get to Ireland and couldn't go because the train tracks to Birmingham were underwater. The underground in London was flooded. When everyone went to London yesterday, they got stuck in Hyde Park because of a flood. Tom took a video of it with his camera- it was crazy. It is raining yet again today. Yesterday I did a whole lot of nothing. I finished my Midsummer Night's Dream paper and finished reading The Rivals. I started my Rivals paper but had A.D.D and didn't finish it. Then I went to the gym for awhile and got completely soaked on the way there. We went out to ... read more

Oh today was so beautiful!! It was warm.. I actually wore shorts and a polo and wasn't freezing! It was wonderful. Mom, Dad, Ang, Matt... I apologize for not calling yet! I need to go get a phone card! I did get your birthday card though. Thank you :) We just got back from seeing A Midsummer Night's Dream, and it was by far my favorite play so far. It was awesome! It was outside at one of the other colleges. It was so funny. They did an amazing job with a small cast; I think everyone played double roles. A Midsummer Night's Dream is my favorite Shakespeare play so far, so I was expecting a lot from this play. Luckily my expectations were met! Tomorrow I'm going to Scotland! Joe, Catie, hopefully Tom, and I ... read more
