Two days to go and disaster struck. Before travelling for 3 months Ian and I decided haircuts were in order. I even took a photo to the barbers. "That's not very short" "I know, I don't want it very short" "OK, I'll see what I can do". Unfortunately what he could do bore little relation to what I wanted and thankfully we'll be on the other side of the world long enough for our crew cuts to disappear. Happily counterbalanced when we found out we both got 1sts in our first year exams, still I'd swap it all to get my hair back. Massive admin rush going on - we're trying to help finance the trip by setting up an export company while we're out there so there's auction and shipping accounts to set up, as ... read more

Hello everyone! Sorry that it has taken so long to update this for you, it takes quite a while to set it all up and it is difficult to get use of a computer for a decent amount of time. I will start off with telling you about our trip to London. We headied to London to celebrate 2 years together for Steve and I and Steve had suprised me with a nice night at the Marriot, which is located next to the London eye on the River Thames. Unfortunatly the weather wasnt in the same romantic mood. Strong winds that threatened to collapse our umbrellas, our only protection against the downpouring rain. Monday was a little better and started of with our included breakfast of the morning, which if you were to pay up front ... read more

At 7.00pm we arrived at Ezeiza airport (BA's international) and checked our bags in, all 51 kilos. They were half that when we left but I hate throwing things away and ended up collecting much memorabilia. We landed at Dallas at 6.30am and immediately searched for somewhere to watch the England v Paraguay match. We were successful much to our surprise as the Yanks are not big into Soccer, so much so that the Dallas Times could only dedicate 4 columns to the opening of the World Cup. We left Dallas at 7pm and arrived in the UK at 10am Sunday morning. We were greeted by Tas's folks and Rebecca it was so good to see them, we were a bit delerious though and not very chatty. On the way home we dropped in to see ... read more

Day 2, 2nd June Leicester - Northhampton - Milton Keynes - St Albans Good sleep, woke up a seven, looked out of the window to check the bikes, the guys had fixed a wicker basket to my handlebars! All were up at 7.30 and we had loads of toast for brekkie. Set off again just after nine, overcast and a little rainy. We first arrived at Northampton where Rory looked for a bike shop. We’re now at the stage of running our bikes in, my bike is rattling a bit, I had to tighten up a few bolts and Rory tightened my wheel cones. We headed past Milton Keynes, then down the A5 through Dunstable - destination, St Albans. By Dunstable we were getting very tired. Scott’s luggage was wearing him down, he sweats loads! Leslie ... read more

Well you'll be amazed to hear that everything does almost fit into the rucksac. Almost. It bulges, but the zips do meet, with a bit of tugging. Unfortunately I did some last minute shopping yesterday - universal sink plug (if you can't get the acutual kitchen sink in, this is the next best thing), more films (for those that know me, you may be surprised to hear I have only packed 15 films, enough for 1 week maximum), suncream (12 hour protection in cute packaging), and enough ibuprofen to seriously concern a pharmacist. I'm hoping that my packing skills will aid me in squeezing in these final items, without increasing the size of the rucksac, and also, more importantly, not increase the weight (only allowed 20kg, and I'm hovering on the 19kg mark at the moment). ... read more

Well everything I could possibly need is laid out ready to be packed. Almost everything I could possibly need - unfortunately I still have a shopping list including fairly essential items such as sunglasses. I've done one trial pack and I can fit nearly everything in. However there is no room left over, not even for the sunglasses. So I've unpacked again, and taken a few more items out (removed: 1 pair of socks, 2 vest tops, 1 -shirt). I'm sure it will all fit eventually! As to the excitement/nerves, well the nerves are winning so far. I've had to say 'Goodbye' to both my brother and my father, but I'm still struggling to comprehend that I may not se wither of them again for another 12 months or more. I think it probably won't hit ... read more

Throughout November we successfully packed the contents of our three bedroomed house and distributed it amongst our obligated family and friends as far a field as northampton, and newcastle - thank you all. We checked out of our lovely cottage on the 24th of November taking with us some very fond memories. After a visit to the north east to say goodbye to 'me clan' we returned south(ish) to Earls Barton where we are staying with tas's ma and pa until our journeys begin on 7th December. Best wishes Noel and Tas... read more

This about a trip I took to Northampton in UK some time last year, to meet my internet photoclub members. The group had only been interacting online but never met each other. So it was kind of exiting to meet the group to put a face to their online 'nick' names. It was sometime in early April and the spring was just about in the air. I left Ireland on a early morning flight to Luton where Den, the organizer of the meeting picked me up and drove to Northampton. There I met Margaret, Den's partner and also a club member. Den&Margaret Northampton, Den and Margaret's town, is about half hour drive. When we arrived at the house, Margaret Stugeress, a small lady with big heart - was waiting for us. I got the feeling that ... read more
