We can’t remember the last time we visited Ashridge Estate, northwest outskirts of London. We decided to do trekking course on 23 October 2020. We took the train from Euston for Tring. We saw rain falling, wet platforms from the window on the way to the destination. As we left Tring station, we crossed over the road to start the trekking course. There were signposts for Aldbury, Bridgewater Tower, and Ivinghoe. In contrast to the weather forecast I’d heard from the previous day, the thick clouds came round Ashridge in the lunchtime and it started raining while walking towards Aldbury village. Mark put up umbrella and I put up my scarf on my head. Nevertheless, the sight was quite clear, and while approaching Aldbury, we could see the lush hills with autumnal coloured leaves and Bridgewater ... read more

Dzień zapowiadał się bardzo ładny. Od samego rana słonko świeciło i Gloria zaproponowała abyśmy pojechały na pieszą wędrówę do Chilterns AONB (An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Nie musiała się dwa razy pytać. Szybka kąpiel, kawa i śniadanko no i byłyśmy gotowe do drogi. Po drodze wstąpiłyśmy do sklepu by kupić jakieś smakołyki.

We didn’t remember the last time we had visited Ashridge Estate – the vast countryside estate, managed by the National Trust on the northwest outskirts of London – but our happy memories brought us back again on Friday, 15 May. By morning on 15 May, it had stopped raining in London – the grey gloomy clouds had disappeared but a blue sky had appeared. We took the train from Euston and got off at Tring Station. We did remember the way to access the country walk – a few minutes’ walk from the station – and it is off the main road. At the start point, we found the signposts for Aldbury village, Bridgewater Monument and Ivinghoe. We started walking for Aldbury village. We followed the footpath flanked with wildflowers, walking past the grazing field, saw ... read more

The varied countryside estate running across the borders of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, along the main ridge of the Chiltern Hills, is accessible by the footpath from Tring Station on Silverlink. The footpath starts off B4506 road, and goes through Ridgeway and Aldbury village, and the trail leads you to the centre of Ashridge Estate. The focal point is the monument of the Duke of Bridgewater, which was erected in 1823. The tower opens at the weekends between April and October, and offers wonderful panoramic views of the woodlands and surrounding countryside. There are a number of convenient facilities, e.g. Tearoom, National Trust shop, and Visitor Centre where you an discover more about local wildlife and you can gather information of walks and family day out around the estate. There are 4,942 acres of woodlands, commons, and ... read more
