Happy New Year!!!
Side-trip destination: Edinburgh, Scotland
Just because it's close and just because I could, I got a flight to Edinburgh to spend New Years Eve. I figured why not! Unfortunately due to terrible weather (40 mile/hour winds causing rain to fall horizontally) the Hogmanay celebrations including fireworks were cancelled. But I didn't mind because Alex had organised to go to his friend John's place, so we hung out there. Amazingly the wind died down for the hour around midnight allowing fireworks to be set off, though only for a few minutes - nothing like the display we saw had happened in Sydney. So with bubbles, strawberries, fireworks and good company, 2007 has begun.
Meanwhile back in London, camera shopping is on the agenda. Now this is where it's really difficult not to convert back to Aussie dollars. Rach very patiently helped me look for cameras today. Being an indecisive pain in the butt I left with nothing. Tomorrow is the day. I was just having a bit of information overload plus the little shop people weren't really very helpful with one guy pulling a face everytime we asked a question. I'm not sure how he figures
that pulling faces at his customers makes them want to purchase anything from him. Strange!
We have a lovely stroll down Oxford Street, through Carnaby Street and onto Regent Street. The Christmas lights were still up so the place looked really pretty as we wandered along. I've managed to work out how to get my phone to talk to the computer and have put a few pics up. The picture quality isn't the best but at least it's something to look at.
Happy New Year once again!!

ps. On the Dec 30th, I was fortunate enough to catch up with most of my friends who live in London. Aside from a small hiccup of chosing to meet in a bar that was shut, we managed to all find each other and have a lovely evening chatting and catching up over a few drinks and dinner. Thank you all for coming out. It was so fantastic to catch up but also funny because it didn't seem like 2 years since I'd last seen you.
And thank you Beks, Simon and Trish for letting me stay - can't wait to see you in South Africa.
