Well, it was a fun start to a Sunday morning in London. Rhiannon and Lynne came with me to Petticoat Lane Market which is officially my favorite market in the world. I have posted a video on youtube where you can see a bit of the market and a lively salesman! my youtube name is WONSTABLE, if you search that with petticoat lane, you should see my video there and of course, you can seee the videos previously posted too. I have done pretty good for my souvenir shopping, still searching for my perfect teapot though. Maybe you can help me vote on the teapot to purchase, see the pictures and let me know okay? I head back home on June 28, 2011 so responses would be required before that time if part of the vote ... read more

Well this week has absolutely flown by and it is our last night in London before heading off to Cornwall tomorrow morning. Over the last few days we have crammed so much in that it is actually good to get away to the countryside for a bit of relaxation. We’ve managed to climb the Tower Bridge and see how the drawbridge works, visit Westminster Abbey, take a tour of the HMS Belfast and go through an hour of horror that is the London Tower Bridge Experience. And that was just today!!! On Monday, Sarah and I took a short walk from the hotel to visit the British Museum. People have always said that it was big, so I thought big like a football field. Try two underground football fields underneath another 6 on top of that ... read more

1 June Update. Well, Bath was great – albeit the rain continued. Stayed in a reasonably posh hotel which kept Katie happy – all the cheapies fully booked. Seems she’s a Champagne traveller and doesn’t like the 1 & 2 star establishments our budget was designed around. I’m sure her tolerance levels will change when it’s her turn to go backpacking in 10 years or so!! Soon after arriving, we found a small privately run museum on the outskirts of the tourism throng, which focussed on a local family business (Bowlers) that operated in Bath for 97 years over 3 generations and going back some time Mr and Mrs Bowler had 13 kids – all of whom worked the business. I was like a kid in a toy-shop with all the old metal working machinery and ... read more

Hi once again. We are now sitting in a little bar in our hotel lobby reconnecting with the digital world for the first proper time since we left Australia. London is Awesome!!! It's not much colder than Brisbane at the moment, but at this time of the year the sun rises at 3:45am and doesn't set until around 10:30 pm. That's insanity! It's 7am at the moment and we're pretty well recharged after possibly the most gruelling uncomfortable flights in the world. Not really a fan of 13+ hour flights without being able to sleep! The most exciting thing at the moment is the fact that we are based in the heart of London so we can wander the streets and see what we would like to do. There are countless little restaurants all over the ... read more

Tuesday 5-17 to Sunday 5-22 Man, the flight from Amsterdam to London is really short! I think we were up in the air for maybe 15 minutes before the captain came on and told us to prepare for landing! We were met at the airport by our friend Mandy, a college friend from Boston University who moved to the UK with her British husband, Tony, a few years ago and now have an adorable 19 month old boy named Raphael. He’s really cute and a total chick magnet! Nick Note: Maybe he and my little nephew, Tomas, can get together in 17 years and carouse for ladies. They will be two wild and crazy guys. Everywhere we went with Raphael, the ladies ooh’d and aah’d over him ;o) Our first British experience was an old English ... read more

Before starting with my wonderful time in London I have to mention my flight from h*l*!! Having no problems mentioning the airline, Virgin Atlantic, I want to make sure all those who are looking into their flights to Austria think twice about booking a flight with them. First the entertainment system was broken for half of the flight!!! I know it’s not really their fault but come on, who brings stuff to do on an international flight when the movies airlines offer are so good?!?!?! Then during the last ¼ the plumbing broke. Ya. Now that’s a serious problem! Finally when being to land something was going on with the runway (I know not really their fault) but we were forced to circle above the airport for 45 minutes – with no toilets – until the ... read more

London still rocks Well well. Day 4 kiddies and I am soon to leave London for Germany for my friend Rachelle's wedding. It's funny how you leave your heart in certain places and relive your life from the past....I lived here in London 9 years ago, visited again in 2007 and now back 4 years later in 2011. I literally grew up in London...I was 20 years old, very naive about the world and in my mind, after a year of trials and tribulations I became a grown up and somewhat 'international' and not just some Canberran kid who knew nothing about the world. Flash forward to 2011 and here I am again and this place still feels like home. I came here on Tuesday, very tired but still ready for some London fun. I slept ... read more

The atmosphere in the whole of London was electric. Every window display in every shop had some tribute to the wedding. Flags were everywhere as were the souvenir sellers. Selfridges had a royal tea party going on in their window with masked royals acting out the scenes. We wanted to watch the events near to the action but with a big screen to have some idea what was going on. We got to the outskirts of Trafalger square and could see glimpses of the screen when tiptoeing and straining our necks. People were taking every vantage point possible from the top of shop verandas phone boxes lamp posts to even upturned metal shopping baskets from nearby Boots chemist (the security guard allowing it just for the occasion ). It was awesome being part of such a ... read more

Today we bought our van. Still looking a for a car though. The van is a nice, clean one that has most things we will need. Have attached some photos of St.Pauls Cathedral which we saw when we went into town after buying the van. Weather is really cold but mostly sunny. Tomorrow is the Royal Wedding and is a day off here. Signs and banners everywhere congratulating William and Kate. We will be watching it on TV. Big screen TVs will be set up at Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park and other venues throughout London.... read more
