I had no idea what to expect when I entered this Cathedral. Well I've never really been in one before so I don't have anything to compare it to. But it was gorgeous with all of the light streaming in and hitting all of the the gold trimmings and murals that are painted everywhere. I went there with my history class and I seem to have chosen the best classes over here to be in. My theatre class just goes to plays all the time and writes reviews. My history class we take field trips to places like St. Paul's Cathedral and upcoming we have the London Tower. Then my anthropology or popular British music class is just listening to music and learning about it the entire class time. Anyways more about St. Paul's. It was ... read more

Oi there mate! Welcome to the land of the Queen! This trip was planned a few days before it happen and with very reduced budget, so, as you may figure, things didn't happen the way they supposed to be... at least during the flight and arrival... We flew on easy jet night flight, and, despite the fact that it was already a night flight, it was delayed... no big problem, except if the trains and metro to central London didn't close so early... So, if you're planning to go to London for a weekend, you may consider skipping work at friday, and depart in the morning, or perhaps you'll end up lost in som strange nieghbourhood at 4AM, raining, looking for a cab... I must confess... we went to Gatwick Airport - it was cheaper - ... read more

Saturday 3rd, September So here we are in sunny, yes I said it, sunny ol’ London! The last few days have been beautiful! I think I may have actually gotten sunburnt today, but then again a high wattage light globe has the capacity to do that… Flight to London was… well… boring! After going nonstop this was the first extended period of time that I have been by myself and I wanted to be entertained!! To give you some indication as to the extent of my boredom here are some of the excerpts from the conversation I was having with Henry the HP laptop during the flight: 3 HOURS TO LONDON!!!!! Why do they feed us so much on long haul flights… more importantly why do I keep eating it?! BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED! It ... read more

First of all, I am graduated with a BA in Psychology. Second of all, I'm in London, and it's not raining! My character-building adventures started quite soon after my plane took off on Monday evening (August 30). During my layover in Ireland, for example, I met a man who, like me, had planned to travel to London without a return ticket in a no-commitment travel style; unfortunately, London Customs promptly kicked him out because they thought his lack of return ticket meant that he was coming to work! Of course I was alarmed and set out to amass as much proof as I could about my travel-only intentions. Eventually I just purchased a return ticket (for December 31st), but not before I had discovered another problem. Um, my credit cards do not have PIN numbers, so ... read more

Third day in London (second day of sightseeing) and guess what? It's raining! We didn't let that stop us. Hopped on the bus and did our second day of touring around London. We saw Sophie's sweatshirt hanging in a shop window, much to her chagrin. We rode the London Eye (for some reason, Robb keeps calling it "the arm" - he's so contradictory). Robb - "I am not!" We saw a cool statue of a horse kissing the ground and did some shopping at Harrods. Harrods was wonderful but now we understand why that episode of Mr. Bean has him buying ONE Christmas ornament. That place is bloody expensive. We saw a watch for GBP371,000. Really?!! Wouldn't you worry someone would chop off your wrist? A quick change at the hotel into warmer clothes and we ... read more

Missed a day - travelling from Paris to London. We did manage to go to Musee d'Orsay inthe morning on Wed. Very cool to seeing origina Monets, Manet, Van Goghs and other greats. Jon and Sophie were upset because they did not see a mime while in Paris. Correction - we did se a "mi". He was getting dressed and putting on his mime makeup on a Paris bridge so not a full mime yet. Chunnel ride was quicker it seemed, maybe because we were all excited to be going to London ... and because we had train seats that were facing each other and spent the ride playing pictionary. Got into London around 3:30p and checked in. Robb and I have a quaint (aka small room). Robb stubbed his toe on the bed walking in. ... read more

Scott and I spent a very plesant Sunday morning strolling around London City on a walking tour called 2000 years of history in London's Square Mile. It was extremely interesting to learn what history is moments from your door just across the river. We started out at the Mounument, and learnt how there really wasn't a lot of fire fighting going on during the Great Fire. The next interesting point was a beautiful garden in a church ruin up from the old Billingsgate Fish Market, it almost felt tropical. Onwards we walked closer to what is now the city area with the Gerkin and other iconic buildings; like the inside out building and the Leadenhall Markets. One amusing story was about how they use to make little shoes for the geese so they could walk to ... read more
