I've decided to move into IKEA. I think it's the best decision I've made in quite some time. Really. I mean it. I want to live at IKEA. More about why later.... Yesterday, I moved house on the bus. The 191 is usually quite tempermental but all six of my journeys on the bus were timely! I was so impressed. Granted, the bus drivers kept giving me looks like I was nuts, but then as most of you are already aware, I kind of am. The same driver kept picking me up at my old flat but different drivers brought be back after I'd dropped a load of stuff at the new place. I think the driver was starting to experience "driver deja vu" each time he saw me. Whatever...at least I'm done with it now. ... read more

Hello All!! Sorry it's been awhile since I've added anything onto my blog. I've been kind of busy lately and the thing is I don't even know what to add to this blog. I guess I can start with my trip back to Camden Town, where I only spent about ten pounds. On that trip we ventured back to Trafalger Square and continued on to Kensington Palace/Park (where Princess Diana and Charles lived at one point in time). This one girl that went with us, Amy, was trying to feed the ducks and geese(?Not sure of the type of bird) they were so viscous! They kept chasing her around the park, it was hilarious!! We then went to Harrods, biggest department store in Europe. That place was AMAZING, if I had a hundred million pounds it ... read more

So it feels like forever since I've spoken with you! Last week I was on a training course for 2 days--Thursday and Friday--to learn how to administer a parent/child interaction course. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? It was interesting for the most part, but it was also teaching us how to do preschool language group just like UNCG did. The speaker was good and quite a lot of fun to chat with, however, even a dynamic personality couldn't make up for the fact that we sat on the equivalent of metal chairs for 2 1/2 hour stretches at a time. I did meet some of my neighbors (more SLPs) and they're quite nice. Kerri (yes, another one) is from San Fransisco and Shifali is from India. Kerri and I sort of bonded over the randomness that is ... read more

We went to london again, this time by car with Tony and Jackie. They showed us all the sights so now when we go in next we will have a better idea of where everything is. We went to chinatown for dinner and saw some of the lights in London.... read more

Today we booked both our accommodation in Dover and Paris. We bit the bullet and tried the English Public transport system, which is quite good once you know where you are going and what ticket to buy. We got the bus from Enfield to Turnpike Lane and then got the Underground from there to Piccadilly Circus. Our aim was to go to Victoria Stn to book a ticket to Dover, so we walked in that general direction from Piccadilly Circus. We first went to MacDonald’s to have a quick snack of fries (which taste more like potatoes; a good thing). As we left MacDonalds it started to rain and this only go heavier as the day progressed. From there we walked past Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and many old buildings and Statues. We came to a ... read more

Today some fellow students and I ventured to Camden Town, which has the best vintage shops I've seen so far, and to Hampsted Heath. Hampsted Heath is an enormous heath that has a hill called Parliment Hill which was told to me to be the highest point in London. Hampsted Heath also had the largest desk and chair I've ever seen (kind of odd location), I will insert some pictures to explain. Tomorrow some different people and I are going to visit the changing of the guard and back to Camden so that I can actually look around and do some shopping (light shopping, don't worry dad). I miss you all and hope that you are well! Love, Jen... read more

So everything is getting much better here. I have made friends with some fellow British people and I am venturing away from the American people, which is great! Depending on how important my orientations are this week (classes don't start until next week) I may go to Rome with two other Purdue girls for a couple of days but it all depends. I have one today and I'll find out how vital it is. My new English friends took me to my first Traditional Sunday Roast and the food was actually pretty good but then again I had been at the pub all day. I would love to write more but I need to get going. Love to everyone!!! P.S Danielle, I have only seen Heinz ketchup so far, but again I haven't ventured into the ... read more

Here's pictures of my new place. Granted, they're just of the outside 'cause I didn't want to freak out the girl I went to see about it by taking pictures of the flat the first time I met her. Probably wouldn't have scored me any points and gotten me the flat. Claire, my new flatmate, works in London at or near Buckingham Palace in some sort of marketing/communications//PR/business field. Not being in any type of field like that, I don't really have any idea what she does. She said she's usually up early and doesn't get home until late.....my kind of flatmate! Just kidding. She was really nice. I stayed at the flat for a couple hours and we were just chatting. She's flying off to France this weekend to see her boyfriend and take care ... read more

I have figured out how to upload pictures so that's mostly what this entry will be...it'll take me a while to get them all loaded on here and by then, I'll be out of time. There has been one new development though and it is that I am moving!!!!! I met with a girl called Claire last night after I got home from London and I think it's going to work out alright. I'll have my own room with shared use of the lounge, kitchen, and bath. Still just a bathtub, but at least it has the little attachment for a shower head. Very exciting, indeed! I'll move and be in 1 October. Yea! I also have a temporary mobile phone that one of the women I work with lent me (it used to be her ... read more

I finally made it to my dorm today! It's okay other than the fact that it's filthy looking (well not that bad but not moderate), and that the shower is at the same level as the rest of the bathroom, which means that when I shower the entire bathroom gets flooded, nice huh? I'd post a picture but I can't find my USB cable for my camera right now. If I don't find it I'll pick one up at the electronic store tomorrow when i get my converter for my computer, who knew that a converter and an adapter were two different things. Well, I've got to go get ready to hit up the pub! Talk to you soon--lots of love! And to Jack, good luck at hunter's, don't screw up. Just kidding, love ya! To ... read more
