: Our beloved adopted child Dudley: On a cold day, after weeks of scouring the internet, we find ourselves heading to Essex from London to see if the 1992 VW T4 transporter will be the trusty companion we had been searching for. By this time we knew what we required... he needed to have been loved by his previous owner, be able to take Diesel, and get us around Europe - as far as Turkey and then back. We met George, Dudley's original parent, who was as much a VW enthusiast as you could find... we had found our new family member and within 7 hours of seeing him, Dudley was in our possession on the road back to London.... read more

Friday night we turned into Mexicans. Wayne sported a sombrero and poncho whilst I turned cow girl. It was Steve’s 40th birthday. We headed over with a bowl of veggie chilli. A few drinks later and Nisa had mounted the piñata and wouldn’t let it go! It was a lovely chilled out evening. Saturday we transformed into murder mystery characters. I was an archaeologist, Wayne a ventriloquist. Neil had gone all out with a beard and turned into Sigmond Fraud very funny. Everyone really looked great and we had a fab time. Lots of yummy food thanks to Suzanne. The chocolate puddings were good too (well one of them was!). Having never done a murder mystery was thrilled to be invited, and it was great fun. ... read more

We decided to go and see Neil and his am dram group in Allo Allo. We were not sure what to expect when we arrived and I imagined the awkward moment when we had to say how good it was thinking what if it isn't! Fortunately it was brilliant. Saturday 3 November We'd decided to have a catch up day today and Rags bought us a couple of papers to relax with. We were sitting enjoying the papers feeling a bit guilty because the sun was out again when Rags said, “Aren't there markets somewhere today?” We'd written them down in our notebook so Judy checked and yes, Maldon had markets so with the added incentive that this was a harbour town we rushed around and readied ourselves to leave by 10am. After a couple of wrong turns we arrived in Maldon by 11am. Once we had found the parking area and had “paid and displayed” our ticket enabling us to stay until 3.15 we were happy, especially since there were also conveniences near the carpark entry.
