I am playing cricket again in Barrow this season and went for a warm up game on Sunday. Was good to see all the lads again and it felt like I had never left. The squad was split between two teams and our side had a bowl first. Having not picked up a bat or a ball in the last 6 months I wasn't expecting much. I didn't get any wickets but was happy that all of my deliveries landed on the pitch, and that I managed to get quite a bit of spin. I ended up grabbing two catches and 16 not out with the bat so it was an ok outing. The England v Aussie game was on afterwards so the afternoon onwards was spent watching that, catching up with the boys and ... read more

For easter I went up to the Lakes District. Getting there was a nightmare. I left straight after work on Thursday. 7 hours later I arrived into Barrow. Firstly it was delayed, then when I got on it was so packed. I sat on my pack the whole way in the aisle, unfortunately I was close to the toilets so I had to stand up to let people through every few minutes (A lot of them rude and obnoxious, I should have locked them in there). On the plus side I did manage to get a lot of reading done. I'm reading Gridlock by Ben Elton, he is one funny guy. Nic's dad is big on outdoor activities so on Friday he took us out for a walk. I was expecting a bit of a casual ... read more

Nic and I went for a walk on boxing day to the Abbey, it was where the Monks used to live until they got slaughtered by Oliver Cromwell and his army of anti-royalists. The Monks initially hide in the woods surrounding the abbey, the anti-royalists passed through thinking it was unoccupied. Then some idiot monk decided that it would be a good idea to ring the abbey bells in celebration that the anti-royalists had not found them. Nice one Einstein, the anti-royalists heard the bells and came back. I travelled back to London on Wednesday, worked Thursday and Friday and then decided that instead of staying in London for New Years by myself I would go back up to Barrow. My flatmates were going with friends of there’s up to Edinburgh, so on the Saturday morning ... read more

A pretty busy week at work, ended early on Friday afternoon thanks to Dave (my boss) wanting to have a few beers at 1pm. We went and found a pub down the road and had a meal and a few quiets, well they were quiet until Dave decided to get into the swing of things by buying more and more beers and shots of sambuca. 5 pints and 2 shots later I had to get the train back to my flat, pack my bags and get on the train for the Lakes District. I thought I had done well, until I arrived in Barrow five hours later and unpacked to find that I had 2 pairs of undies, 2 t-shirts and about 12 pairs of socks to last me 5 days. Saturday I went for a ... read more
