Our last few days in Barcelona were spent mostly hanging around and studying for our 2 finals. Not exactly how you want to spend your last weekend in Barcelona but it must be done. I managed to make it to an art museum with Tony one morning. It was a huge place and it had a good view of the city. Tuesday after our last final we just tried to soak up as much of the time we had left. Hung out with our girls. I am going to miss them so much. At least we will have Veronica in Houston with us!! For our last dinner in Spain we had paella. Jennifer and I peeled our own prawns. I'm so proud of us. That's twice now. We spent the last night running around Barcelona trying ... read more

I am currently in Valencia, in the house of a friend using a computer for the first time in ages it seems. I haven't really had the energy to get to the computer before, as I have felt sick ever since leaving Salamanca. But now, though not feeling better, I am so sick and tired of being ill that I have crawled to the computer to write a bit on my stop in Barcelona. Barcelona, probably the most famous city of all of Spain, renowned for the masterpieces of Gaudi and a lot of other things quite irrelevant to my travel, as I came to see almost nothing of it. All I ever saw, but the pillow in my bed, was La Rambla and Barri Gothic, and off course after dragging myself to what felt like ... read more

Barcelona - truely wicked place, we managed to fit a whole lot in during our long weekend there. We left on Thursday evening - Nicola, Rachel and Me. The computers were down at the airport so we couldn't get checked through. Some how the rest of our plane made it on board and we were left running to catch our plane and managed to just make it before the gates closed. A couple of wines (although warm Chardonnay) was well deserved at that point. Our hotel was located on a gorgeous little side street off La Rambla - the main drag. We were very impressed with our accommodation and even managed to humour the hotel staff with our spanish. We did a lot of sight-seeing using the tourist hop-on/hop-off bus. We caught it up to the ... read more

So After catching a taxi from the train station to the Barcelona Airport I sat drinking Cafe con Leche itching with anticipation for the arrival of the two most important people in my life...Betty and Ira, for those of you who don't know me...my Parents. So after endless hugs and kisses, remember I've been away for over seven months, Mom needed a few minutes to catch up on hugs, we picked up our rental car and hit the road. Destination being Platja D'Aiguablava and the Paradore that sits on top of a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Now I've been living in tents, hostels, cheap hotels, vans and huts for the last seven months and I was all ready to soak in the lap of luxury. We arrived at our four star hotel, rooms with terraces ... read more

A few weeks ago I got email from an Australian girl I met in Vienna about her travels in Spain, and it was entitled: Spain- Oh Boy!. I think that pretty much somes it up. Spain is the place and the place is Spain. I stayed in Barcelona and that place is hot. When people talk about the Sun beating down, that saying is definitely true in Barcelona, the Sun and the heat is unrelenting. No cool changes, no cloudy days, just heat and this is why that Spain is so legendary for it late nights because some days are hard to do much with. I left Tübingen on Wednesday via the 4:38am train from the station. Cheap flights are early flights, and early flights mean even earlier trains. So when I finally arrived at my ... read more

Avg. Temp: 38 Today is my last day in Barcelona. I am pretty relax. I did all the sightseeing already and I have a day to spend and relax. I hung out with 2 girls from holland and 2 americans. We went to the barcelona opera house and then hung out in the park for the afternoon. The day was whether easy, except I have a confrontation with the reception guy in my hostel. I don't know how to describe him. He obviously doesn't enjoy his job. He doesn't give you a smile or it seems like everyone owes him something. I went to the room after I checked out and I came down. We had a confrontation of what I am doing upstair. Eventhough, there are tons of other people in the reception area. Crazy. ... read more

Well, there probably won’t be too many more of these blog entries. After spending sixty-four days in Europe, I have sixteen left. It feels like I got on that early morning plane to Paris not long ago. That interminable eight hour layover in Detroit feels like it passed in the blink of an eye. As some of you know, I feel ready to go home at this point. It is as if a thousand little voices are calling me back to where I belong. All those little things that, when you add them all up, comprise your life become magnified and aquire a new significance. Like breath of fresh Colorado air. A tasty morsel from “the Met”. Mt Ranier presiding over Puget Sound like a king in white robes. The early morning moon rising over an ... read more
