We had to go. It was Bananarama, plus some popular local transvestites were making an appearance. This place is huge, a few floors which play music to cater to every kind of taste. Laura and I were the only ones game enough to go, but we had a ball - gay parties rock! ... read more

Went back to visit Gaudí´s La Pedrera, which I would recommended just for the experience of the roof! He´s one amazing architect and has a style and sense of space unique unto himself.... read more

Hi all, I know it´s been a while but I´ve had no opportunity to get to the net up until this point. As I speak most of the contiki crew have headed down to the beach! Unfortunately again I won´t be able to put photos up. The computer here won´t allow USB. Well anyway. We all met up on the Monday in London. It was a little weird at first but before we knew it we were off to Paris-France. Was a long bus trip and arrived Monday evening. We did a small tour and had a look at the Eiffel Tower. The view was amazing and Paris is a great city! I think it will be hard to beat! We had a look at a few other sites from the bus and had a quite ... read more

Back again! Back on the free internet, and there is no queue this time. So I only got up to just before the plane. We went to Portabello Road, then back to Alexs to pick up our stuff, then off to the airport via the Stanstead Express (to the Stanstead Airport). Arrived to a crazy airport, checked in with EasyJet (they had the cheapest flights), and they have this stupid new rule that you can only have a certain size hand luggage bag, and it literally has to fit into the lap top size size guide, or you have to check it. The lady told us all of ours were fine, but once we reached security, Chez had to turn around and check her backpack. Very annoying. Security was crazy. The line was a mile long, ... read more

Hi, My next installment may be a little hard to read, as I am typing in spain, and their key boards are different. I apologise in advance for the bad punctuation. Since my last entry, we have packed so much in its had to know where to start! We went to the British Museum, saw the mummies and sarcophaguses and the greek stones (with very funny comments about the English stealing them, and the Greeks wanting them back). Really awesome. Went and met Laura at Kings Cross Station from her train from York, and then went to Alexs work to drop off her stuff. Oh yeah, and bought a top. Then we had a quick dinner, and Laura, Chez and I went to Les Mis, which was awesome, and included Jon from S Club 7 as ... read more

Hello, I have so much to tell!! Valencia and La Tomatina were amazing. Valencia mostly consisted of me lounging on the beaches of the Mediterranean. Beautiful, white sandy beaches and crystal clear water with waves just big enough to toss you around a bit. I can´t wait to hit up the Barcelona beaches (the plan for Monday and Tuesday). Valencia was also my first time couch surfing, and it was great. I stayed in the appartment of a dutch girl who is working in a near-by hostel. She also had two long term Italian couch surfers from Milan. They were a great young couple. Very friendly and helpful (they were around more than my host, who was in Berlin most of the time I was there). The last night I was there, there were 3 more ... read more

Back to explore the rest of the mountain: the castle (used as a prison for political prisoners before), the Greek open theatre. Plenty of things to see here including the 1992 Olympic Stadium. Huge place to explore and it'll take at least a day to do all the spots. Laura and I took a bus here and for some reason, decided that the furnicular could take us further up towards the castle so we didn't have to hike up. Of course we failed to see that the furnicular was going down, because we were already pretty much at the top, so we had to take it back up again. We blame it on the heat that day.... read more

Hola! Nicole has joined us for a week in Spain - where we spent the first few days in Barcelona sightseeing (rambling down Las Ramblas, doing the total tourist thing of joining the hop on/hop off bus, gasping at Gaudi´s creations all over the city, doing a walking tour of the Gothic quarter, and watching a flamenco show) and, of course, eating (jamon and queso for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with croquettes, eggplant, patatas bravas, chorizo and paella) and drinking (sangria, sangria, sangria - and beer for Nic). From Barcelona we took a gorgeous Mediterranean train ride down to Valencia. Here we´ve spent days on the beach, wandered around the city and enjoyed our stay at Hostel Ruzafa (if you ever come to Valencia, we highly recommend it - Jose is the nicest, and cleanest, ... read more

Saint Paul's Hospital, still fully functional, by architect Lluís Domènech i Muntaner - building started in 1901. This is an amazing piece of architecture and a World Heritage Site. It's the only hospital I know of where people actually go to just to sit and enjoy the views and relax!! If only all hospitals were this gorgeous.... read more

Our third day in Barcelona was spent checking out a few more sights. Visited the Olympic stadium and the Castell de Monjuit, which is a castle sitting on top of a hill with nice views of the city. Also got our train tickets for our next destination. The last day was pretty much the same as day one.. lounging on the beach. We did visit the Salvador Dali museum, where I took a few pics of his artwork. Its been about 30 degrees each day here, so the beach has been pretty full. We jumped on the train for our overnight journey to the next port of call. ... read more
