15th September 2007 Ola Bo & Dud, We are breaking new ground and are in Spain!!! It’s been an action packed week - on Monday we had a day out in Bordeaux. Although we’ve travelled to this area many times, we’ve always been here during August and it’s far too hot for a city visit, so now was our chance. It is a fabulous place - the old architecture sits well alongside modern redevelopment, and, the whole place was buzzing with students and rugby supporters. We walked the length of the Rue de St. Catherine (the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela), enjoyed lunch down by the river while being entertained by the Miroir D’Eau and photographed elephants, camels and lions in the centre of the city!! - Cirque Pinder was in town. We also relaxed ... read more

San Sebastian is another location known for excellent surf. Flat as a pinche pancake during our stay, but the people were so nice and the weather was beautiful! Spent many days reading at the beach and walking the old town at night. Spanish Tapas are not like the tapas you may eat in California but we loaded up and sampled a little of everything anyway! The hike up to Mount Urgull was sweaty and worth the effort. The statue of Jesus was incredibly proud and stunning. This coming from two folks who have seen quite a bit of Jesus and statues in Europe (folks aren't afraid of either in these here parts!).... read more

So this is my last week at work! Can you believe it went by so fast?!?!? But I guess what they say is true; time flies when you´re having fun. My friend Emerson from Brazil left yesterday, so there were a few tears shed yesterday...poor mom, I called her at home on her birthday just to cry to her....but not too much sympathy for me, I am in Spain afterall ;) And it turns out I´m extending my stay a little longer, thanks to some hard work on mom´s behalf and some birthday money cominhg my way! So the plan is to hit up what I can in Spain, stop in Portugal along my way back to London (I love it too much, I must go back!) before a few quick days in Switerland and Greece....or ... read more

Boys club were heading off for another holiday, and this one was going to be the most ambitious one so far with a five day road trip across Northern Spain in the offing. Our flight was the usual crack of dawn affair and took us to Bilbao. At the airport the comedy started pre-dawn as Moss had managed to leave his Sun-tan lotion in his hand luggage. This was soon confiscated and in the process Moss had all his belongings stripped out of his bag, revealing to us all the worst pair of shoes ever inflicted on the world - immediately dubbed "sh*t , which stuck for the rest of the holiday. Even the lady behind the x-ray machine turned her nose up at Moss' fashion sense, and the tone was set for the trip! Arriving ... read more

This blog is dedicated to all the people that love to make fiesta in Basque Style!!! I mean: lot of music every where, funny and kind people, Kalimotxo (local beverage, a mix of coca cola and red wine) and traditions! In August 2007 I went to the basque country with some friends, after reading on internet that in this period every year take place a great fiesta!!! it's called Aste Nagusia (Semana Grande)! it involves 3 cities, and last one week in every city. The first one is Vitoria, but unfortunately didn't go there :( ... the second one is San Sebastian, a really nice city on the Ocean! it has a great Architectural Structure, with big Palace and a very nice beach where lots of surfers go to have fun! The party in this city ... read more

It was the morning of my birthday- after a quick breakfast we decided to head straight to Buckingham Palace to view the tour de france (or farce!) as it was starting in London this year! i had my day planned out which included sitting down and watching the cyclists zoom past us all day! Its those days of hard work that I enjoy the most. The event was packed with people- all of London had come out to celebrate my birthay and as a side- watch the tour de france! By 4.30pm we decided to leave- and went home to rest our legs and recover for the arrival of my sister and santo expected the next day- or that is what I thought was planned! As we walked into the house I took my shoes ... read more

Well, today is my last day in Bilbao. It’s a little bit sad leaving, but mostly I’m ready to go home. Spain was wonderful and all, it’s just that it’s not the United States. I need to live in a country where if I’m hungry at 1:00 AM I can drive down the street and find several extremely unhealthy options. Spain is not that country. I had my two finals today. I would be worried about them, but I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to get less than a B on both of them. I don’t know if they’re making classes easier because we’re Americas….or if it’s because it summer school, or if this is just how university in Spain goes. Whichever it is, it’s fine by me. I know what you’ve been asking yourself: “Where has Jeff gone, and what will I do without his witty, informative blogs?” The answer is that I’ve been around and, well, you seem to have survived. Seriously, though, I really haven’t been doing much of anything. Going to classes and taking siestas are what take up most of my days. I figure that monotony here in Spain is still better than monotony in the United States. I’ve decided to include a few more pictures of my Dorm so you can see a little more accurately what it is to live in a dorm in Bilbao. Besides that…what to say…I went to get pizza at a pizzeria near the Guggenheim today. It’s no deep dish, but what can you do? I will most likely be going to ... read more
