We decided to celebrate our final days in London by going on 'Our last Trip' to Ljubljana, Slovenia. It had taken us about three months to get our tongue around the pronunciation of the word and had no clue on what to expect!! Apart from a war with Yugoslavia in the early 90's there was not alot we did know about the place! In actual fact our Europe guide book had all of three pages on Slovenia which does not necessarily give the sense that there is a lot happening!!! After arriving mid afternoon we decided to go for a walk to the city centre. The city centre was spectacular with its Christmas decorations and snow falling! The decoration consisted of all the planets, comets, the sun, the moon, stars and angels hanging over the streets, ... read more

It was time to leave for Scotland after one of our best drunken and disorderly nights celebrating Cris' birthday with her work colleagues!!! The rattling of the luggage bags was not very welcome with the splitting headaches we had reminding us of the previous night!!! However we did not totally reject the sound which was once music to our ears! We arrived at Presswick Airport which is in essence a shed not much bigger than Cris' dads shed- however- its claim to fame is that it is the only place in the UK that Elvis Presley set foot on. He was in transit to Germany! We swivelled our hips in tribute to the man, pulled on our blue suede shoes and went straight to the car hire place! The drive to Edinburgh was rather uneventful and ... read more

We woke up at 4.00am and left at 4.15am towards Stansted Airport for our 6.10am Ryan Air flight to Krakow- Poland. At this time of the morning I am not the most pleasant person and Cristina is unbelievably chirpy. Her chirpiness and my early morning moodiness turned to frustration when Ryan Air decided to leave us at an airport which was more than 3.5 hours away by bus from Krakow. The diverted flight was made due to the plane being unable to land in fog !!! Now if a plane can fly 10,000 km through high cloud and rain- why can it not land through fog- better known as lower clouds?? We arrived in Krakow at 2pm and not at 10am as expected- we picked up our car and sped off to our hotel ready to ... read more

Istanbul was one of the trips we were most looking forward to and we were not let down. The capital of Turkey is a juxtaposition of elements which makes it all the most interesting. It is a country which now belongs to Europe which however was always seen as the link between Europe and Asia and therefore considered different, it is an Islamic country yet ‘liberalised’ by rejecting the Sultan and Kaifate ordering system back in the early 1900’s, it is a city which came under rule by many cultures yet it is distinctly and proudly Turkish and finally it seems so modern and contemporary and yet it is so traditional.!!! The Islamic aspect of the city is its most interesting aspect as all the major mosques seem to call the community to prayer at virtually ... read more

It was an early rise towards the port of Piraeus where we had to pick up our tickets at 6am and board the ship. We took our seats and eased back for our 5 hour journey to Santorini via Paros and Ios. When we arrived at Santorini new port we were welcomed by a scrum of taxi drivers with signs begging for a passenger- we swiftly paid to get out of the scrum and to our hotel located Imerovigili. On our way to our hotel the taxi driver surprised us by saying he had never heard of our apartments and began to call his taxi base for directions. As we made our way further and further away from the port- nobody seemed to know where this hotel was located! After a few more calls to the ... read more

Once again we had our bags ready packed before going to work, we went into the office did our 4 hours work for the day and went to Gatwick airport for our next trip, the sound of rattling luggage bags on cobblestones is music to our ears and one we will miss- this time the destination was Greece for six days and a much anticipated trip. First stop Athens. The flight to Athens was 3.5 hours from London and we arrived late Friday night (9.45pm) and by the time we arrived at our hotel it was close to midnight!!! In an effort to make the most of everyday we went straight out to a typical Greek(s) restaurant and were having our dinner at 1am, needless to say we were the only people in the restaurant receiving ... read more

Noticing that the word SEX ensures hits on our blog- we have decided to include it in our title- there is nothing in this blog to do with sex! Well after what seemed to be an eternity, it was Friday and we found ousrelves running for the train again - this time was from work, we decided to go in for half day so we get some paid hours! ha ha We made it to the station and boarded our 1.15pm train to Luton Airport with lunch bag between our teeth and luggage in our hands. It was an uneventful two and half hour plane ride and we arrived safely to Budapest airport and picked up by a coach to take us to our Hotel. It was 9pm by the time we got to the hotel ... read more

This I promise will be a very short blog! Getting to know England further.....and this time it was Bath. A beautiful city with so much history and is also a World Heritage City . Baths history commences in approximately 1 AD when the Romans thought it would be a great place to set up an outpost to their empire- a little bit far from Rome but nonetheless they left their imprint on the city. Bath was a fortified city which contained a spectacular Bath 'complex' dedicated to the 'gods' who were the only ones who could produce hot springs!! They are the only hot springs in England! The complex was later built over and ruined for many hundreds of years after the romans left (approx 60AD). Bath's second high-profile era was the eighteenth century, when the ... read more

It was the morning of my birthday- after a quick breakfast we decided to head straight to Buckingham Palace to view the tour de france (or farce!) as it was starting in London this year! i had my day planned out which included sitting down and watching the cyclists zoom past us all day! Its those days of hard work that I enjoy the most. The event was packed with people- all of London had come out to celebrate my birthay and as a side- watch the tour de france! By 4.30pm we decided to leave- and went home to rest our legs and recover for the arrival of my sister and santo expected the next day- or that is what I thought was planned! As we walked into the house I took my shoes ... read more

After a splendid four days in the north of Spain and seeing one major festival- San Fermin- it was time to go to Paris for 5 days and also see Bastille Day- a day when French Pride bubbles like champagne. This was Claudia's & Santo's first trip to Paris- and they were looking forward to the trip We arrived very early on the 13th of July to London and had to cross the whole city to head towards the other airport for our flight to Paris- We arrived late on the 13th July to Paris ready for an early start the next day to join Paris to celebrate Bastille day or "la Fête Nationale" commemorating the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, this was the storming of the Bastille seen as a symbol of the uprising of ... read more
