So yeah, it was great. I got some pictures but my camera actually broke so these may be the last for a while. The train took like an hour 45 but it was good. there were like 25 people all together which was fun but also busy. we checked into the hostal and then got groceries and had a beach picnic that lasted for like 6 hours. the water was beautiful but freezing! I jumped in a few times just because I felt like i had to. we met some spaniards on the beach that played guitar. they could play some pink floyd and then they played no woman no cry while i sang. i asked if they new any dave matthews band and they said no and that i should play it. i played a ... read more

Yesturday morning, a group of about 25 from our program hopped on a train to Cádiz at 11am. The bus ride was about an hour and a 1/2 and when we got there we went straight to our hostel to check in. Hahaha you would not believe this place we stayed in. I couldn´t believe they fit our whole group. The owner of the place was from England i think and most of the other employees were from english-speaking countries. (austrailia, new zealand, u.s.... and more)... after checking in, we headed to the beach for the day. It was beautiful out... but the water was freeeezing. we stopped at a cheap grocery store on the way (very similar to aldi´s) for some food to eat lunch on the beach. we met some locals on the beach ... read more

So after our epic journey of over 3,200km we arrived at our destination of Malaga in Spain. It was great to catch up with Rob’s family again and also have a bed outside of the van for a change. Gee, 9 nights in one place, that’s the most time in one destination since the end of March (almost 6 months). Fred and Dora Brown - The couple with no fixed abode! Our timeshare was in the resort of Mijas Golf Club, although we were not actually on the course. We spent the first few days exploring the area, catching up on some much needed sun, frolicking on the beaches and relaxing by the pool. Oh of course the food and wine! Good red grape, at an even better price, tapas and fresh paella what else can ... read more

This weekend five of my friends and I hopped on a bus to Cadiz, a city near the coast of southern Spain. The occasion was known as "Carnaval", a well-known city-wide party in which everyone wears disfraces (costumes). I knew that it would be crazy, but I had no idea exactly HOW crazy until we showed up to see about 12 buses (all from Granada) full of people in every single costume imaginable. I made a mental list of all of the most common costumes that I saw: 1.) Pirates 2.) Hippies 3.) Something religious (Eg. Nuns, popes, cardinals) 4.) Cross-dressers I dressed up as a cowgirl (vaquera), while Rachel went as Zorro, Tina as the Cowardly Lion, Sarah as super neon woman, and Matt and Mike did sort of a "build my costume as the ... read more

I love Spain, I just wonder what it will be like when it is finished? In my last entry, I was just south of Valencia. Well, have done some travelling since then And met some interesting people, not to mention haveing some fantastic weather (that has now deserted me). Interesting stops include, Benedorm (full of old Brits strolling up and down the sea front. However, it is very clean, with beaches hoovered every night. I also found a bar that the local bikers use, where there was entertainment in the form of a Blues brothers tribute, who were very good), Alicante (well worth a visit for the hill top fortress of Castillo de Santa Barbara), Alhama de Murcia (where I stopped in a campsite in the mountains. Talking to locals, the guy who owns Orange cycles ... read more

Alrighty! So this will be short, and pretty sweet because internet cafes are kinda spendy... I´m in Cadiz España! I love it! I´ve decided I´m learning Spanish next, it´s amazing. I´ll be home in a matter of DAYS! Ten to be exact, with the next 9 days at sea (its quite a long stretch). The last few countries have been equally as amazing, and I´ll write one more ginormous blog once I get home and have virtually free internet. So, adios for now! And I´ll see yall soon! Loves! Hasta Luego! Dara... read more
