Geo: 41.15, -8.61024 GÜN 56 günlerden Cuma Sabah kumrular gibi kalktık . Aslında çok özlemişiz birbirimizi. Sonra duş,kahvaltı giyinme kuşanma derken 906 no lu Otobüsle şehre gittik. Maa... read more

Like mooing livestock we filed through Stansted Airport to our boarding gate for our flight to Porto, Portugal. Millions of people + hundreds of regional airports ='s cheap flights around Europe#. With the likes of Ryan Air you'll experience travel conditions below cattle-class so Michelle had the foresight to buy us priority boarding. This almost got us first in the boarding queue (a determined family of Spaniards pipped us). We got the unlimited foot room of front row seats on the 737. No need to be a scoundrel and claw-back a few precious inches with the seat clamp. Both of us were still sick & tired so for 4 pounds each extra, priority boarding was well worth it. In the fog-shrouded night time gloom we landed. The off-duty pilot we sat next to tut-tutted about the ... read more

My journey to Porto didn’t exactly get off to a smooth start. I knew I had to catch a train to Coimbra B railway station but wasn’t sure which train to catch. I couldn’t see the train status screen. The bane of the blindy on the road. There were two trains waiting to leave so I had to make a choice. Naturally I made the wrong choice on the advice of a guy waiting on the platform. Got on the train which was totally empty. I waited a minute or two and still no other passengers. I saw people walking toward a train on a far platform. Got off the train and flashed my ticket in front of a railway official. He directed me to the other train on the far platform. This train was almost ... read more

Hey all, So, we wrote a blog earlier to catch everyone up on our travels but as soon as we pushed published, for some reason, all was lost. That was back on the 3rd. So now begins the somewhat painful task of catching up since before that. Jan and I have agreed that we would do best just to summarize: (July 30, 31, 1) Malaga: Shit Hole. (August 2, 3) Seville: Great City. (August 4) Night Train from Seville, Spain to Lisbon, Portugal (August 5, 6) Lisbon: FANTASTIC CITY. Great two days. (August 7) Porto: Expected it to be a shit hole, but its not! Like what we have seen, although that hasn´t been much, as I am sick with some sort of throat cold. Should pass in a couple of days....I am hopeful. Tomorrow we ... read more

This was written on a roadsign and it just might be correct for me, as I had a great experience of life there. Lady Luck was on my side when I was looking for a place to stay in the north. Magic internet helped me find Vitor and his family. I guess almost by accident as I almost never use the site I used. They made me feel wellcome, despite my poor poruguese speaking skills and spoiled me to the limits with the great food of the lady of the hous (mum) and by being drivene absolutely everywhere you can imagine! So, Vitor picked me up in Vila Real (which sounds seducingly if you pronounce it correctly:p) where I arrived by bus. Remember? no trains in the north... We checke out the city, took a walk ... read more

Howdy y'all! I don't even know if this is spelled correctly. Whatever. I was in Bragança a few days ago and this entry is about my time spent there. This town is bigger than I expected, very hot and white. Without a doubt on a hill, but more than one, which made me walk a lot more than I should, 'cause I got lost all the time. Didn't mind the map in my hands... it was too hot to think, so I just kept walking. :) I stayed for two nights with the intention to see the Natural (or National?) Park Montesinho or an interesting area around the town of Miranda do Douro. I never got to those places, because the buses don't drive during the weekends. So I decided to rest from all the impressions ... read more
