Så endelig kom vi til Wroclaw! Alt vi orket når vi kom var å få oss noe mat, heldigvis lå det en burgersjappe rett over gaten fra hostelet (og de hadde sykt gode hamburgere) , og så gikk vi å la oss. Vi sov lenge dagen etterpå (dvs. Til 10), før vi gikk på sightseeing. Vi hadde egentlig ganske negativ innstilling til alt, at det ikke var noe å se og at alt var så slit og lite fint. Det har nok mye å gjøre med togturen dagen før, som ødelagte humøret. I tillegg til at vi våknet til at det ikke var vann noen sted på hostelet. Verken i toallettet, vasken eller dusjene. We are on our way to Wroclaw, or Breslau as it called to. Put the address into pgs., no worries. Ha. We landed in a crescent with large expensive homes. We showed a bike rider the address who said, no not ending with an e, but an o is the street name. He put it in the system and of we went to the other side of town. It pays to be exact. It is a beautiful city, some buildings started around the 12th century. Much was destroyed during the war. Of one the entire roof and most of the walls were gone. Most denominations were repaired with donations. They tried to reconstruct it in the original. What an effort. Most people, special younger ones speak some English. An diesem Tag bin ich von Breslau wieder nach Hause gefahren. Auf dem Weg war ich am renovierten Dresdner Hauptbahnhof in einem Starbucks. Die gesamte Fahrt war mit etwas über 8 Stunden doch etwas lang.... read more

An diesem Tag bin ich von Postbauer-Heng über Dresden mit dem Zug nach Breslau gefahren. Beide Abschnitte sind bahntechnisch bestimmt ausbaufähig (insbesondere eine ICE-Verbindung von Stuttgart über Nürnberg nach Dresden wäre eine Wohltat). Continuing my quest to visit every place worth going to within a 500 kilometre radius of my temporary hometown of Prague, I went to the lively, university town of Wroclaw (Vrot-slaf) in South Western Poland at the weekend. This fairly small city is renowned for it nice architecture and student vibe. Compared to many cities in Central Europe, Wroclaw should be pretty close to Prague but it isn’t when you get the longest local bus in existence. A 250 kilometre journey took us over five-hours thanks to a bus that stopped at every town, village and tree to pick up old ladies with their shopping, families with dogs and escaped convicts to then deposit them in the next hamlet two-miles down the road.
