Yeah yeah we know, the airheads omitted the picture of the cutest of the cute. Plan on it appearing here if the aforementioned airheads remember. Now for a bit of reality for you Americans. We took a drive a couple of days back from Copenhagen to Oslo. We knew Norwegian gas was a bit more expensive than Swedish, so we stopped near the border to buy a bit. Actually, we packed the tank with 11.5 gallons (our little Volvo has a small tank but achieves over 40 mpg) for just over $77. Should anyone like to compute, they will arrive at around $6.70 per gallon, and we were "pleased" with the price for we then crossed the border where the same gas at our next fillup will be over $8. Unsere Lieben Wir hatten eine geniale Überfahrt nach Norwegen. Mit der Fährfahrt von 3 1/4 Std. haben wir auch das Mittagsbuffet gebucht. Es war sehr reichhaltig und sehr gut. Am Flekkefjord konnten wir den "Lista" Leuchtturm besuchen. Die 150 Treppen brachten mich allerdings ein wenig ins "Schnaufen". Die Weiterfahrt brachte uns am Hardanger Fjord entlang und so konnten wir 2 Mal die Fähre benutzen. Es waren allerdings sehr kurze Überfahrten, zusammen etwa 15 Minuten, dafür waren die Kosten etwas höher (CHF 79.--). Nun bewältigten wir die Bergetappe so allgemeine Richtung Lillehammer, von Meereshöhe auf ca. 1400 MüM. Die enge Strasse verlief zum Teil in Tunnels mit 360 Grad Kehren. Wasserfälle, Seen und Bergbäche lösten einander ab und ergaben traumhafte Landschaftsbilder. In Fläm angekommen buchten wir die verschiedenen Touristenprogramme. Tuesday Back On The Road.We set out a little later than usual as it took us a while to make a plan for the day. We decided to head for Lillehammer which is situated at the end of lake Mjosa. Along the way we passed over the forested hills on a fairly narrow road that wound its way to the top, on the way down the other side we met some road works, we had to wait for a while until a convoy of vehicles came the other way, led by a convoy car. The car turned around and led us down the mountain, past the workforce who were laying new Tarmac. Thursday, 29th March 2018 After a leisurely breakfast this morning, I headed over to the office to tie-up some loose ends before embarking on a T Bane (Metro) tour around the city vicinity. I haven't had much chance to ride on the T Bane over the past few days due to work commitments. So I was rather happy that we would be using the system to get to some of the places that we would be visiting today. From Majorstuen, we took the T Bane to the final station at Frognerseteren where we continued with a slow uphill climb to Frognerseteren Restaurant. Tuesday, 27th March 2018 After work today, we headed to Fiskeriet Youngstorget for dinner. This is a small seafood cafe that serves lovely Norwegian Fish Soup as well as Fish and Chips. We also ordered their daily special - Curry Rice with Prawns. Our mains came with complimentary toast and butter which Ryan was lamenting how he would always make a trip down and purchase their butter spread for breakfast. The seats are perched against the high tables which did not make it ideal for a long, sit down meal. Anyway, the service was good and efficient and the prices friendly. Loved everything about our dinner so much so that I bought the Fish Soup again at the airport before my flight back home on Friday afternoon. It did not disappoint indeed!... read more
