Stopped on the way to Vianden for lunch at Spa - where the Belgian Grand Prix is being held in a couple of weeks. Stayed at the cutest hotel for the night on Saturday, then a lovely 40km bike ride along the Moselle River. Don't faint, it was very flat and my "townie" bike, with 2 gears handled it superbly. It was just gorgeous, with grapevines on every available piece of land, regardless of how steep or how close to the houses. Stopped off midwayish for a beer, ham & cheese roll under a tree beside the river, followed up with a swim in the river. ... read more

Adam and I left after a nice breakfast in Langen and drove our car to Frankfurt Main Station to pick up Robert, who drove with us to Saarbruecken. The ride was fun and we talked a lot. Then Adam and I drove to Luxemburg. Even though everyone said, it would be boring, we liked it a lot. We found a parking spot directly in the city center and walked around, enjoying the scenery. We loved the small streets with its German-French architecture... mor... read more

Moien, The weekend had finally arrived for me to visit southern Belgium. I had seen much of Flanders so far, but very little of Wallonia. That would all change as my friend Louis, someone who Gabrielle had put me in contact with before I left Vancouver, said he would drive me around southern Belgium I woke up early on Saturday (so what else is new), packed my stuff and hopped on the train at Schuman. There were a large amount of south-eastern Europeans on the train, I did not recognize the language at all but I thought that it might have been either Bulgarian or Macedonian, who thought it was a good idea to yell from one carriage to their friends in another carriage. This went on for about an hour until I arrived in Jambes, ... read more

Hello, this entry covers the week and a half I spent in Luxembourg. If you think it is a tiny place that takes an hour to drive through, my advice is to try walking it! From Burg Reuland in Belgium, I walked along the valley through forest before climbing a hill to give me my first view of Luxembourg. From there, I decended to the pretty village of Ouren for lunch, the final stop before entering the Grand Duchy. There was only one shop in the whole village, selling a full range of fishing gear and then only a few basic items as an after thought. Picking up the river Our, I crossed the trois frontiers, where Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany come together and followed the riverside walk for 4 hours, meeting only one other person. ... read more

We had a great time catching up with Stefaan and Carine in Brussels - its great to see them after such a long time and they made us so welcome. The next day, after a soggy start we set off for Luxembourg. The weather turned overnight and we had to take the tent down in the rain - not good! After a couple of hours travelling we were all quite hungry and we needed some diesel but because it was Sunday there wasnt much open. We had a couple of abortive stops at petrol stations and began to wonder if we would find any food or diesel. After one attempt however we stumbled across a hidden grill restaurant just off the road. It was full of locals and as we walked in the atmosphere was warm ... read more
