We love love love Prag! The most beautiful city we have been to sofar! It is just amazing! We took the metro to Josefov, the jewish part of town and walked around admiring the sinagoges. Then we explored the Old Town and watched the play of the Astronomic Clock. The gothic church was beautiful and we loved every little corner there. We walked around and found art nouveau style buildings aswell as an old monastery. There, we bought art nouveau postcards and decided we had to see the Alfons Mucha Museum, who is the art nouveau pioneer. We walked along the water and crossed over to the Metronom from where we had a beautiful view over the whole city. The Prag castle near by, we sat at the St Nicholas church reading the tour book one ... read more

Berlin - Dresden - Prag

Published: September 14th 2009Europe » Czech Republic » Prague » Vrsovice

We picked up 2 people to Dresden and were amazed by the city. It is really very beautiful, with a lot of huge castles and churches- we didnt expect that. After only one hour walking around, we picked up another person and drove to Prag. That way, we made a little money and had some company on the way. We stayed with Adams grandparents friend, Parush in Prag. He lives in a Monastery on the top of a hill overlooking Prag. The first night, he took us out to eat hering and have Czech biers with him and his friends. It was great and we listened to a very interesting conversation between two women about whether or not homosexuals should be able to be priests or not.... read more

We walked from Alexanderplatz to the beautiful Brandenburger Tor. Then we walked to the government building and Reichstag where we waited for 45 Min. It was a great time in the dome. The view over Berlins night skyline was phenomenal and we really loved it allthough it got pretty cold. Odense - Berlin

Published: September 14th 2009Europe » Germany » Berlin » Berlin

We woke up in Odense, had breakfast with our host and then explored the city. We ran into a beautiful market at the square which supported local farmers. They brought cows and explained how to milk a cow. Also, you could touch squeeling piglets and feed goats. It was really fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy Adam and I asking questions and participating in the fun. We got a ciabatta dough on a stick that we roasted over a fire and they gave out free bread from a local bakery. We tried some Odense applejuice which was amazing and bought some delicious apples. We were curious about all the products and were happy to be able to buy some local delicacies. Then we drove to Berlin. We found the appartement of Adams friend Mary allright and the ... read more

Stockholm

Published: September 2nd 2009Europe » Sweden » Stockholm County » Stockholm

We spent the last two days in Stockholm, Swedens capital. The first day we walked around Gamla Stan, the old town, which is very beautiful and historic but expensive also. We found a place in our travel book that recommended eating reindeer meat. We followed their advice and couldnt believe we had to spend 23 Euros on one plate. We did it anyway. Our new mantra: We're only here once! So we shared a plate and it was definetely an experience. I loved the Strogat, which is a little pedestrian street in Gamla Stan, where a lot of cafes and little shops sit next to another. We walked around the whole four islands of Stockholm, posed with the guards at the palace and hung out at the harbour. We were pretty tired in the afternoon. This ... read more

Kalmar

Published: September 1st 2009Europe » Sweden » Kalmar County » Kalmar

From Copenhagen, our next big stop was Stockholm. We wondered, what the swedish landscape would be like. It is beautiful. Wide land, very bright sunlight. It is flat but here and there a little rocky. Very green and clean. On our way to Stockholm, we thought we would pick two random cities in Sweden, where we could camp. The first stop turned out to be right next to a beautiful lake. We put up our tent and felt pretty cold during the night but when we woke up in the morning, we had a beautiful view on the little harbour. After a small breakfast of bread and mamas good strawberry marmelade (we stole one out of the fridge before we left ;) ), we headed towards Kalmar, our second stop. Kalmar turned out to be a ... read more
