Wknd #3: The Northern Italian Lakes. Lake Como: come one, come all... twins, boy scouts... I'll admit that after such an unexpectadly AMAZING day at Lake Maggiore, I wasn't thrilled about leaving to come to Como. It was a bit chillier, and not quite as striking, but I still found some adventure... I woke up pretty early, again to a beautiful but chilly day in Como. After an espresso I decided to go for a stroll by the lake to see what I could find. I did some people watching and saw: tons of fishermen... very serious, a man teaching his tiny grandson to fish, lots of bikers, and a tour of English old ladies. I also saw my first Aston Martin... and I think a love affair is about to begin... AMAZING looking CAR and ... read more

http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lago-di-Como--Lake-Como/blog-146101.html のキャッシュです。 We came here to celebrate my good friend Analissa and her twin sisters 30th birthday. Thats the marvellous advantage you have when living in Europe, 1, 2 hour flights to so many different countries. So we couldnt say no and 30th!, well worth it. Lake Como is lovley, we went in the winter, it was cold, but we had such a great time, we intend to go back again either for summer or a ski trip. Bergamo, Milan is where we flew in and 1 hour from here are the skifields. We took a bus down to Lake Como, 4 hours away. It was the beginning of Christmas, December. The markets were wonderful, beautifully presented little stalls with an abundance of Italian products from breads, cheeses, wine , salami and chocolate. In Bergamo, waiting ... read more

We added text and photos to Venezia. Sorry we didn't check in during the Como days. The Internet spots were in Como; we were 15 minutes away by boat, so didn't make the time to blog. The photos hardly do justice to the beauty of Lago di Como. The mountains just pop up out of the water; little villages built into the hillsides. The best transportation seems to be by boat - certainly the most enjoyable. It's low season now, so there are very few tourists in Cernobbio. We love the slowness of the area. We called the "dock boy" Ricco Suavé because he was so full of himself. He worked about 10 minutes of every hour and disappeared until 5 minutes before the next boat. It took about a little over an hour by the ... read more

Listen to GPS We have now lived in Munich one month short of a year. The entire time, we have been procrastinating about renting a car. We don't own one, you see, and we told ourselves that we would rent one from time to time if we wanted to go somewhere not accessible to public transportation. The thing is, we don't know our way around, and it seemed pretty complicated. Highways aren't numbered even and odd for east and west - they have names like Mittler Ring and A-14, A-52, A-36... And the highways and roads change names so often that by the time you figure out which one you're on, you're not on it anymore. But, there comes a time when you just have to take a chance. We tried to calm our fears by ... read more
