So I arrived in Rome hot and sweaty, had a quick shower and headed into town to meet up with Glen and Janee (his friend from Portugal). We headed down to the Circo Massimo which in ancient Roman times was used as a chariot racing track. Nowadays its just a green park type area where outdoors events are usually held. Three big screens were set up to watch the football final between Italy and France. So we headed down there and immediately I was overwhelmed by how many people there were. The place was chocas full of people wearing Italian gerseys, and carrying their flags. Carrying our supplies of alchohol, we found a grassy spot and sat to watch the game. It was just amazing, and the atmosphere was so contagious, we couldn't help but cheer ... read more

Hi all! Am currently in Rome, slightly pissed as I write. Having fantastic time. Met a Romanian girl shortly after arriving and we did loads of sightseeing together. Was fun. Just been for a pizza and some beers. VERY friendly waiter if you k now what i mean. Asked if I was Miss or Mrs then proceeded to tell me I was a 'sweet girl'. Hmm. Pissed girl more like! Haha! Think Rome could possibly be the most beautiful city I've been to. There are no ugly bits. Not like London where you can have a beautiful street then some 60s monstrosity sandwhiched in. I arrived midday on Sat - met up with this Romanian girl who was looking as lost as me. Sightseeing on the first day was kind of surreal as we kept on ... read more

The colosseum was sweet I dont think we are gonna be able to break in though there are a thousand cameras everywhere and if I break in I know i will take to long checkin shit out and get busted so screw it. Its so wild, I thought it was gonna be a little bigger then it was though but whatever its mind boggling to think the thousands of people who lived and died just to make tons of people happy watching them ... read more

Buongiorno ROMA! oh my ... there's just so much to write aboue Rome Im not sure where to start! What a beautiful and breathtaking city, full of history. We spent the most time there out of all the cities we've been to during our EUROPE SUMMER 06 trip and believe me.. it wasnt enough. I could have stayed in Rome for weeks and weeks. Everything about it was amazing. Of course everyone has their own views and preferences but me, Karla, I LOVED it!!!! We were very fortunate as we were able to stay at the monistery in the centre of the city. First off ... We'd like to THANK all the priests at the monistery for letting us stay there for 4 nights. A BIG THANK YOU to our tour guide and the one that ... read more

The final destination was arrived upon a few days ago...but finding an internet terminal (and time) is far more complicated here than in Southeast Asia, who would have thought? Plus it does not help matters that the keyboard here is completely reconfigured, c'est la vie. The World Cup Victory created utter mayhem here, but it was fun to be in the country of the victors, despite the majority of you rooting for France (per the comments you left on the last blog). David was fabulous. I enjoyed him immensely! The REAL David that is, as there are three in Florence. And the aforementioned light switch refers to a strategically placed toggle :) with a label from one of my former art exhibits which clearly states, "Please Handle Carefully." There is much to say and describe, but ... read more

Day 43: (Part 2) Tuesday July 4: Monoco Hey all, we headed up to Monoco in the evening, checked out the views and the Royal Palace.. Then we headed down to the Monte Carlo Casino, using the same streets that they use for the Grand Prix. There were some amazing cars sitting in front of the casino. We headed in, and I sat down to some Blackjack.. I was quickly up 100€ and took a break.. then I decided, what the hell, Im in the fucking Monte Carlo casino, so I put the 100€ (about $125) down on one hand. Unfortunately I lost it, but I still left the casino even, had a great time, unfortunately no fireworks for the fourth of july, but I think I'll survive. (Plus Markus lost 100€) Day 44: Wednesday July ... read more

Yesturday was the most fun I've had yet. For those of you who don't know the way my program works, they do two shows and a choral piece each summer. Well, last night was the choral piece and even though I'm not in the choir, me and my friends went to support and listen. It was an evening of Vivaldi with the choir singing Vivaldi's Gloria with an orchestra. The performance was in an outdoor basilica right near Piazza Navona. Abosultely gorgeous! It is the same space where we will be performing Widow. After the performance, we decided to go out. A big group oof us headeed to a bar called Fluid. It's a very trendy br where the drinks are too expensive but the environment is cool. The little stools look like ice cubes and ... read more

Posting Time: 4:30pm ; Location: Levanto 3 days and 3 nights We didnàt find a place to stay in Rome. We hope we can find something in the main station. There are tons of hostel salesperson around but we just donàt know how to trust them. we met a salesperson from NS, She sells camp site to us. I thought we could trust a canadian so we went there. How far is this campsite? Damn far. It took us 4 metro stations, 4 train stations and a shuttle bus to this campsite. It is cheap, but the down side is that you canàt come back here after 9pm. Since most of the transportation are on strike. (Here is a side story) THe next day, we went to Vatican, St. Peter, and Colosium. I decided to leave ... read more
