When I arrived in Dublin, I knew exactly what I wanted to see and I wouldn't leave Dublin without seeing it. Guinness Brewery at St. Jame's Gate. This incredible Guinness brew is known the world over as the best stout you can get your hands on. In the surrounding area, one can breathe in the signature Guinness smell. It's nearly inescapable. The storehouse which was created about 4 years ago walks visitors through the entire brewing process. Plus, you get to quench your thirst with a free pint of Guinness at the Gravity Bar seven floors up. What a deal! The first full day I was in the city of Dublin, I took a walking tour through Temple Bar. This area is full of pubs, restaurants, shops and hotels/hostels. Its bohemian nature reminds me of Camden ... read more

Go West Meath! Yesterday, I attended my first Gaelic football match. It was West Meath vs. Laois. What an entertaining game to watch! It's a mix between several different sports and it's quite a brutal game. Someone got injured every few plays. Fortunately, West Meath came away with the victory. They've never won the province finals ... so it was a huge win! Gus' brother lives in West Meath, so he got us tickets. Thank you! And, earlier in the day, I had a blast on the Shannon River. Several of Gus' family members met up to go waterskiing and wakeboarding on the Shannon River. It wasn't a sunny or warm day, but it didn't make any difference. We jumped in all the same to give it a go (with full wet suits of course!). After ... read more

For the past 5 days, I've had the pleasure of exploring some of the most lush and magnificent scenery since I left on my trip. Ireland has to be the greenest place on Earth. Between the unpredictable rain showers/mist and the Atlantic Ocean, the west coast of the country will never go dry. I stayed in a small town called Kilrush in County Clare with my boyfriend's family for a few days. It was a great location for walking and exploring. The city is right on the Shannon River which opens into the Atlantic. From several spots, you can see the county of Kerry. Absolutely breathtaking! The first day or two I wandered through the town and villages nearby. And, I took in the beauty of the Vandeleur Walled Garden. It's a small garden that's wonderfully ... read more

Here I am in chilly Dublin (I'd recommend a summer trip to my readers!), with Liz and the 'Tart with the Cart', Molly Malone. Just a long weekend away, but plenty of fun was had at the Guinness Factory and pubs with Liz, Dunc and their drunken friends...too much alcohol and not enough sleep all round! Maybe best not to stay in a 10 bed dorm next time...... read more

Working our way up the west coast, we managed to find the Cliffs of Mohr (cue Monty Python music). These natural cliffs are like 300 meters high, the wind was whipping off the Atlantic and blowing waves and spray way up them... There are BIG warning signs to not go near the edge, but that didn't stop us... nothing could deter us from getting the shoe in position for a great shot...... read more

To be in Ireland on St. Patricks Day is like being in Washington DC on the 4th of July... It was a great day - one of two days without rain during the entire trip in Ireland. We got some great pictures of the Gap of Dunlow and looked home across the ocean for the first of several times during the trip.... read more

Only 2 days in Wexford. It took a good part of the day to drive from Dublin. We did a job on top of White Mountain. I didn't have much sightseeing time on this trip, too much work ;)... read more
