We were not quite ready to leave the building this morning when the fire alarm went off. Oh, no! Is it a test, is it for real? It’s only the alert alarm isn’t it and not the whoop, whoop for evacuate?? Cathy went to check the lift which had put itself into Fire Only mode. OMG, should we walk down six flights of stairs to check with reception? Before we could make a decision, the alarm went silent, Bernie checked the lift again and it had re-set itself to normal operation. Phew! Let’s just carry on with our packing and keep our fingers crossed that the lift is still available when we need to take all our luggage downstairs! After three glorious days in Dublin with the weather much warmer AND drier than we had anticipated ... read more

Danach ... read more

After breakfast at Madeline's, Kathy and I spent our down day in Tenahely hiking an 8 mile rails to trails loop. It was level and easy. Probably good for our legs. I kept asking Kathy for the map and she finally told me "Can't we just go without looking at the map?" So I stopped asking for the map. Thirty minutes later she asked where are we. I told her I didn't know. We also toured the residential portion of Tenahely and visited the local realtors shop for window shopping local rentals. Some very nice properties that are affordable in the area although this is not the preferred location. We also scope out the bus transportation back to Dublin tomorrow. The bus strike is still on and looks like it will interfer with our travels. We ... read more

This is our last day of hiking on the Wicklow Way. We ended our hike with a stirring 10.5 miles through some very beautiful country. This is lambing season and every pasture has the cutest little lamb hovering around their mothers. I scared 2 baby lambs who ran clear across the pasture to their mother. She came over to berate me but I told her Kathy did it. Kathy must have taken about 300 pictures of these lambs. How many pictures of baby lambs does one need. I guess the answer is more than 300. The weather was cool but dry thankfully. Most of the hiking was along forestry or farm access roads but still the hiking is good. Very challenging up and down the hill sides. Good training for our AT hike in MAY. We ... read more
