June ummm... something. What day is it? ~Parental Discretion Advised Famous last words " Wish me luck as it is the youthful party island of hedonistic debauchery. I wonder what more adventures await..." Ios, definitively exciting and alive. The energy here is contagious and like that of a spring break frenzy but set amidst the majesty of the Mediterranean. A funny Aussie picked me from port and I soon discovered he's the owner of the fine establishment I now bed at. He came on holiday 20 years ago and never left. "A Far Out Beach Club" is the name. Look that shit up. Its like a hedonistic commune of hundreds of sun worshipers and sinners. I'm so serious this place beds about 600 people. I thought myself still, quiet and contemplative. Until here. Damn infectious ... read more

Again updating a little late. The computer line tends to be long at night, and we just don't get up early enough in the morning. So the other day we docked in Mykonos, Greece pretty early in the morning. We took the shuttle bus into town. The town overall is pretty small, but there are some cool things there. Caroline, Matt and I walked most of the way up the mountain for some cool views. The island is mostly bright white houses with either blue or red accents. There are tons, and I mean tons, of little Greek Orthodox churches. I am pretty sure that every family must have their own church. There are also some really old windmills there, which are not in operation anymore, but are pretty neat looking. We found an really ... read more

Last night in Ios was actually somewhat low key. Everyone seemed a bit burnt out from the previous three nights of mayhem. We woke up around 9am to catch the bus to the ferry which would take us to Santorini. It turned out that the only ferry we could catch was the fast one which cost twice as much :(. Cost us 16 euro rather than 7 which was still relatively cheap. We made our way there in around 45 minutes and found some beat up orange van that would take us to the youth hostel with rooms for 5 euros per night. After settling in a bit we headed to the beach about 300m away. It was the strangest beach I have ever been to. The sand actually consisted of many fine black pebbles. The ... read more

Hey all Well I've got a couple of exciting days to tell you all about!!! The first is when we returned to Lucerne. It was our first stop when we collected our car in Zurich and it was a very dull drizzly day. We returned two weeks later last Thursday to find they'd had a dump of snow the previous Monday! When we arrived it was a clear blue sky-ed day with snow on the peaks!! Woo hoo!! We took a trip to Pilatus "Dragon Mountain" (close to my heart) via boat around Lake Lucerne, to hop on a cog wheel railway to the top of the mountain (2000 odd metres) and return was via a chair lift - awesome scenery every step of the way! At the top we were throwing snow balls at each ... read more

The next few days in Ios were very relaxed. Woke up around 2 pm each day after a big night out and went swimming in the ocean, drank beers and chatted with lots of others in their early 20's. The water was slightly colder than expected but it was actually really refreshing after laying in the hot greek sun for hours. There were cats all over the island, especially in the town area at night. The 2nd night I actually saw the sunset and sunrise, didnt make it back to my room until around 7am. It turned out pretty cool because I was able to take some pics on the way back while the island was almost vacant. Life here is easy and extremely enjoyable but the partying might get to be a bit much ... read more

(May 31, still not leaving Paros) Got more adventurous yesterday when D and I decided to rent a 4 wheeler. So I'm from the south. This is obvious. I suppose it's assumed that we all ride 4 wheelers in the south, and hunt, drink sweet tea and farming is our only industry. Whatever. D assumes I know how to drive a 4 wheeler and me becoming more in love with my southern belle roots and my strong southern ego, I failed to tell him otherwise. I was left to navigate the beast. Thank god the learning curve on the bastard was miniscule or else... Well, I stumbled through the city streets and we took to the hills. On a mission to find the islands famous "Golden Beach" we soon discovered so much more. Endless views, ... read more

After around two hours of sleep we woke and took the metro to Pireaus port which is where all the ferries leave for the islands from. We bought tickets for something like 29 euros and made our way onboard. The ships were actually far larger than I had expected, comparable to small cruise ships. Finally we had made it to the sea and the water was even more blue and beautiful than I had anticipated. We were all quite tired so we tried to pass out for a while on the boat but it was hardly comfortable. Still managed to get a decent amount of sleep over the entire ten hour trip. We made it to the island around 5 pm and got a room at the far out beach club which was a sweet ... read more

(May 25th-26th, Athens) I placed myself safely on the third story window of Hostel Zeus watching the plethora of prostitutes outside the security of my window. The dodgy streets of Athens proved to be quite a disappointment, at least in the club hours of a weekend. The daylight brings tourist and travelers alike to fumble through the pages of their 16 euro tour-books with sticky baklava laden hands. Or perhaps it was just my hands that were covered in honey, not to mention my face, hair and oddly enough I managed to soak my ankles in the nectar. "I am not a tourist, I am a traveler" ... Yep, those were my words. "So Miss Acee, are you from here?" ""Well... no." "My dear, you are a tourist." I laughed at myself as upon arrival ... read more

Where in the world is Georgia Sandiego? Europe » Greece » Mykonos By Highway Girl May 30th 2007 Georgia I closed my eyes, spun around a few times for good measure (while sober, of course), and my finger landed on . . . Mykonos!!! This is going to be a short one, kids, because it is far too gorgeous here to be sitting in front of a computer. The weather gods seem to finally be on my side, and to say that I nearly lost my breath when I saw the view from my room is an understatement. Since I sadly can't have you all here with me, I'll send you a part of this gorgeous island and let the pictures speak for themselves. I hope this finds you all well. ... read more
