HOT DAY We woke up early and went to the Acropolis today! And Zeus’ palace. Cost was supposed to be 12 euro which included about eight different sights but everyone except for me got in for free since they had European student ID cards, and I only had to pay 6 euro since I had my old American student ID card. So amazing to see these places that we have studied since we were little! We were all sooo poor; my stupid bank still won’t let me withdraw money. So I kept borrowing money from Amanda and Shannon, bless those girls. I felt like such a bum! All day we just ate sesame circle bread things that remind me of bagels and only cost 60 cents each. Then in the afternoon we took our bus to ... read more

Woke up early, and took the 4 wheelers around the island again. LUCKY US, it was a beautiful, clear day out so we got to experience Greece the way it should be experienced! We rode around until 1030 then went to the beach and lay around until we met our hotel man at 1pm to grab our luggage and board the ferry. So here we are no, on the ferry, and I feel like I am about to die of a sinus infection. It’s dry and stuffy in here. I have no money because my awful French bank reached the limit for the week (only 300 euro. so stupid!) I am going to starve I think. I hate having to borrow money from people. So we got off the ferry and took the subway to town, ... read more

Woke up at 845 because I originally wanted to visit the Island of Delos, but was way too tired due to going to bed so late that I decided to go back to bed. It was a bummer, but it gives me another excuse to come back to Mykonos in the future:) We slept until about noon then decided to rent some 4 wheelers which were only 15 euro each for 24 hours! So only 7.50 each person since we could fit two people on each. I shared with Domi. And then we had to fill them with gas which ended up being 3 euro each. Such a good deal I thought, and ended up being the best part of the trip. We were able to ride around the entire island on them, and even stopped ... read more

We woke up, saw it was raining, and decided to go back to sleep due to the slight depression that we had since we couldn’t be spending the day at the beach. After we all woke up and were ready, we walked around town, went to a honey store, and got free samples. We bought sesame honey bar, a specialty of Mykonos. We had a big breakfast/lunch at Perfectos. I had a big Greek pizza and some Greek coffee. I ate half the pizza and bought the rest home to save for dinner! We did some pre-gaming in the room and then went out. We met some Greek men in the kabob shop and they told us to come back later to party and go out. So we did- and had a blast! They gave us ... read more

Currently on the ferry to Mykonos. Just tried Greek coffee, quite interesting! I guess its like Bosnian coffee, the grinds are super fine and actually stay in the coffee, they settle to the bottom. We didn’t know this at first and added our sugar and stirred it up and took a sip and wanted to spit it back out. It was like drinking sand or dust! I was about to go complain about it but then Shannon realized that it might be like Bosnian coffee she had tried before. We let the coffee settle for a few minutes, and then tried it again and it was sooo much better once the coffee settled and stuck to the bottom. The water here is to blue! Like a deep, true blue. It’s a bit cloudy right now, but ... read more

Six young travelers try to achieve their dream of traveling to Greece. Plane tickets Paris to Greece just fewer than 100 euros, cheap hostels booked, a DREAM beach vacation. We packed our bags with summer clothes, bathing suits, and couldn’t wait to be tan. It started out with my goodbye dinner with Maury (wouldn’t be seeing her for 15 days). We decided to use our frequent buyer cards to T-chips, because we each had enough stamps for a free kabob (we eat there too much maybe…) but since we were going at dinner time and not 2am like normal, the owner guy was there, and DENYED me my free kabob, since one of the stamps was not in the box! THAT’S NOT MY PROBLEM! What the heck! So I was so mad, but Maury was ... read more

Casa was scary! There were no women anywhere! Strange. Our taxi driver then brought us to an amazing restaurant, We all tried tagine (with vegtables) and coucous (Maury did and got an amazinggg couscous sauce!) We ate about 5 baskets of bread, salads, and ended with Moroccan tea! We then went home and to bed. In the morning we tried Moroccan breakfast, served by the hostel. Bread, jelly, butter, fresh orange juice, and café. Simple yet amazing. Then we trekked off through the ghetto of Casa to the second largest mosque in the world. So beautiful, and very modern I believe it was built in the early 1900’s. It was right next to the ocean, breathtaking. We couldn’t take the tour (it’s the only one in the world where non-Muslims are allowed in) because we needed ... read more

February 9th, 2009 Casablanca, Morocoo Currently on the train to Marrakech, 3.5 hours south of Casa. We arrived in Morocco yesterday after a long day of traveling. So let’s reflect. Yesterday, February 8th, I woke up at 7, I took the bus at 8:25 et I arrived at the train station around 845. I had only slept about 4 hours because I went out Saturday night to Falstaff to say bye to Kat and do karaoke. I did Disturbia and Womanizer with Domi - so much fun! Our train to Paris was at 934ish, Maury Hannah Ita and I were on it. We arrived in Paris at 1115 and Lydia was there waiting with her two friends, Jane and Molly. We walked around through Jardin du Luxembourg and saw a huge gold head statue! Strange, then ... read more

ok, so to start off, im typing less quickly as normal because I chopped part of my finger off with Eva’s knife tonight while I was cooking. I think I did nit because it makes me nervous when she watches me cook. She is like MASTER chef and has taught me how to cook the only things that I know how, so when I am faire le cuisine she watches me and somehow always finds a way to point out what I am doing COMPLETLEY wrong or how I am going to kill myself using her crazy intense cooking tools she brought to France with her from China! So today, I was chopping like I am CHEF (or so I wish) up my carrots for my stir-fry, and I turned to Eva to tell her how ... read more

Been back home in France for one week now! I’m not going to lie, its been a lazy first week back! I was really jetlagged all week. I napped a lot, and of course went out, had cafes, ate good French bread, and saw my friends! Getting back to teaching was good too! I thought I didn’t miss my students…but I actually had a fun time with them, comme habitude, and I love it all. Wednesday I slept in really late then met Rachel for coffee at Bar du Centre. Then we went SHOPPING..because the HUGE sales in France started today! I bought a couple of bras and underwears, a couple shirts, and tights for only 30 euro total! It was amazing. Its too bad I don’t have any more money to do any more shopping ... read more
