We got up early and availed ourselves of the free breakfast. Then we checked out of our horrible hotel and made for Athen's port of Pireas (stopping first at Monastriaki metro stop to put our 2 other suitcases in a locker). When we arrived at Pireas around 10:30AM it was a dead port. Unfortunately, Robyn's awful "Greek Island Hopping" book by Frewin Poffley failed to mention that almost all boats leave port around 7 or 8AM or then in the evening around 8PM. As such there were very few options left for islands to go to unless we wanted to do an overnight boat that night. We left about 9:30 today. Ares (our skipper) had warned us it was going to be a rough one. Not even ten minutes into the journey and 7 out of the 11 of us were feeling queesy. It turned out that this trip was to be the roughest of the lot! Most of the people on board got very seasick (lucky for Matt and I we were fine!) We arrived in Syros at about 2pm and most of us were starving so we headed out for some lunch. After that we went by bus to Syros town. Mark, Katrina, Melissa, Adrienne and I climbed up loads of stairs to an awesome view of the ocean and part of the island.
