My time in Paros has come to an end. Paul dropped me at the ferry dock on his way to work this morning, so I'm just relaxing having breakfast at an outdoor cafe, as my ferry isn't til 10. A couple days ago, I walked again to Parikia, with a beach break along the way Then I took the bus up to Lefkes, which is a little mountain town witha beautiful view. I stopped for lunch there, and noticed someone else that was sitting on his own, so I invited him to join my table. He accepted, so we had a nice visit over lunch. He's a psychologist, is name is Nico, he's American, but Greek parents, so has come to Greece many times. We exchanged contact details in case there was a chance to meet ... read more

Today the Rembrandts and I are swapping places; they’re heading off up into the mountains in the middle of the island, while I head across the water to the neighbouring island of Paros. No one seems to be too sure about the details of the Rembrandt’s itinerary. I hope they’re not planning on trying to scale Mount Zas. My body’s gone on strike this morning after yesterday’s climb, and I think its message to me is something along the lines of “you’re not twenty-one any more, what the f**k were you thinking”. I’m trying to put the pain out of my mind, but I’m now forced to remember - four hours spent scrambling up and down hundreds of metres of near vertical rock faces on my hands and knees in searing heat. What was I thinking? ... read more

Piso Livadi is so chill. It’s basically a tiny little beach, boats and seafood restaurants. I’m feeling this vibe way more than Santorini tbh. Ah my trip, she is coming to an end… a day of many lasts. My last beach and swim, my last day on an island, my last fresh fish meal. I have really loved Paros and am glad I stayed in Piso Livadi. A beach, amazing seafood restaurants and a killer local bakery… I mean what else do I need on vaca? Lol Today was a final beach day - I went down to the beach right after breakfast, found a shady spot under a tree near the wall and set up shop. (I could have walked 5min to a “nicer beach” but I’m not paying 30 euro for a chair and ... read more

(Wifi still garbage, so no photos) Today was a fun day! A high school friend I haven’t seen in 10 years happens to be on the island for a family thing - we’re like ok, let’s catch/meet up!! We decided to go explore cute little Lefkes for a bit. She is a brave soul driving manual on the island, I was happy to be a passenger today. Lefkes is super cute - it’s the absolute stereotype of what you think of when you think of little Greek villages with blue accents everywhere and all the bougainvillea everywhere. We wandered the alleys, saw all the napping cats, took all the pics and then grabbed some freddo coffees and gelato at Meli Cream before making the climb back to the car lol. She’s staying in Naousa, so we ... read more

The title pretty much sums up our last few days - the wind had picked up and made any ideas of boat-related activities out of reach, so we decided to head to Antiparos for the day. The ferry ride over was hairy enough and the number of kite surfers out provided a good indication of just how windy it was. We took a stroll in the small village at the port before finding a low key taverna with octopi drying outside for lunch. A great meal and a little too much wine before strolling to a beautiful (albeit windy) bay where we pulled up a few beach chairs and settled in for a few hours of sun. Crystal clear water at a perfect temperature made for perfect frolicking conditions so it was only the lure of ... read more

An unpleasantly early start to the day to make the ferry and fit in with the hectic taxi schedule. The blow was softened by the soft glow of the morning light over the water and the appearance of Usscat, our resident stray, who had quickly recognised the easy targets within and thoroughly enjoyed their offerings of food. We were sad to leave him behind. Controlled chaos at the ferry terminal but relished the chance to visit the local bakery and collect some treats for the journey before being herded onto the boat. A quick stop in Sifnos before we arrived in Paros to complete chaos. Luckily an easy escape and no repeat of the Rhodes cobblestone marathon and we dropped our bags at the apartment before going out to explore. Took a stroll to the beach ... read more

And now we come to Paros. Paros is one of the more popular islands and it was nice. Why just nice? Because the three days we spent there was in a heatwave -- they said that the weather hadn't been so hot on the islands for 5 years. As a result we stayed mostly around the main port city of Parikia at our extremely comfortable airbnb. The sky was a hazy grey color most of the time and because of the clouds on the horizon we didn't get to experience any of those famous Paros sunsets. There is not much to do on Paros. There is of course, the very popular village of Naoussa. We spent a morning wandering around the streets and the Venetian fort guarding the town. In normal weather we would have come ... read more

On voulait prendre le bateau ... read more
