In our third and fourth weeks we went from Kythnos to Siros, Mykonos, Rinia, Delos and Paros. There were some fabulous sailing days with good winds, calm seas and clear skies. We saw dolphins a couple of times (Common Dolphin we think) moving along with young ones - we took time out to drift and watch. In Mykonos we moored in the “marina”. This is much like most marinas in Greece - built with 13 million euros of European money ten years ago and still incomplete and unmanaged (and in this case built on the richest island in Greece - just where the investment wasn’t needed). Rant over. We got the bikes out and cycled the 2 miles into Mykonos town each day. A complete contrast to other islands, Mykonos is highly touristed plus takes 3 ... read more

Hello! Long time no blog!! Sorry have not been able to blog because we have been going and going nonstop since we arrived in Europe!! London: We arrived in London and it’s been nonstop fun. Navigating through London was a great experience. Double Decker buses and high speed trains helped us get to downtown London from our hotel near Heathrow. London was exactly like Harry Potter movies. From identical rows of houses to the British accents to the majestic buildings, London is very charming. We also visited Hyde Park and the department outlet Harrods. When we return to London we plan to do more sightseeing:) Athens and Paros: We left t for the Airport at 5:30 am. Surprisingly, it was not hard at all… because our body clocks thought it was the afternoon. When we arrived ... read more

Wednesday 29th April Chilliin’ out on Paros Another day in paradise was ahead for us as the day dawned bright and clear with no wind again. Watched the BBC who are trying to scare us with the Swine Flu outbreak in Mexico. However the Greek Islands seem so far from the rest of the world that it is hard to believe that it could affect this area.Although we realise that with travel around the world so easy it is only a matter of time before we come across warnings and even people wearing masks as the alert heightens. One must just take all precautions and we have our hand cleanser and wipes and can avoid big crowds other than when we are travelling. Our self made breakfast was delicious again with Greek yogurt and fruit plus a very ... read more

...is difficult. The schedule of eating lunch at 3, dinner at 10 and bars and clubs not getting going until 12-1am is rather exhausting when you want to squeeze in some daytime sightseeing also (early too, given that many sights and museums close at 2pm). So finally got down a little time for some more blogging. Been in Greece for 3 weeks already. Slowly made my way through a few places - Chios from Turkey as in the last blog, Delphi, Meteora, Santorini, and now in Paros. My proudest moment in Greece - finding the Chinese consulate in Athens without a map, by metro and foot without a cab. Arrived very early off the ferry from Chios to Athens, so thought to try to find the consulate for my visa. It's far enough from the center ... read more

Some of the things that I am loving about our Greece experience: Greece is vibrant, chaotic, authentic and charming. People just are. They don’t seem out to impress you and yet they do. Fruit trees growing by the roads on the foot path - you see oranges and lemons growing and smell orange and lemon blossoms when you walk under them. They often have parsley growing at their base. Everyone that we have interacted with have been very friendly and the hotel and restaurant staff speak excellent English and have menus translated into English. It makes our trip that much easier. Organised chaos - the whole vibe so far has been fairly relaxed (except driving and then horns are used with gusto) and it appears that Greece does not have the same level of rules and ... read more

I don't know if all of you "down-under" heard, but summer forgot to visit the UK this year. We had just one or two weekend days of hot sunny weather all "summer". It was the wettest August on record with 60% more rain than normal. So you can bet that by the time our ‘miss the hordes of fat, white & drunk UK tourists’ holiday plan of travelling to the beaches in late September finally came around we were well and truly ready for some sunshine. With the aid of my trusty iPhone I had been checking the weather reports in Athens every day. Sunny with a high of 30degrees. Sunny with a high of 31. Hmmm. All going to plan. The day we arrived in Athens (after a six hour wait at the airport thanks ... read more

Robyn and I slept in and then got on the internet at the first internet cafe we have seen where you can bring your laptop and go on for unlimited amounts of time. A nice discovery. In the afternoon we walked over to the "Blue Beach" and got an umbrella and a few rays, plus a Mediterranean dip. In the afternoon we walked around the abandoned town and then finally stopped for a drink to watch the sunset.... read more

We woke up in Santorini and had a lazy morning. I got up for the sunrise but couldn't really see it as it was on the other side of the island. I got some nice photos still of the moon over the caldera. We gently made our way down to the port of Santorini (Athinios) and made our ferry for Paros. Paros is a lovely island. A sort of mix between the streets of Mykonos with the laid back attitude of Syros. A wonderful last stop on our Greek Islands tour. We found the best food of Greece here as well. Dinner at Alygaria was a pleasent surprise. Amazing greek food, and really friendly, they took us back in the kitchen to show us all the food. When we tasted it were were really amazed with ... read more

Yasus! Only a few more days till we come home!! Yay! We're just about to leave Paros, waiting for our ferry to take us to Athens. We've really enjoyed 6 days of relaxation here in Paros. It's our favorite island (next to Santorini) and we've spent most of the time relaxing, reading and going to the beach. Yesterday was very fun, we rented a quad again and spent all day driving around the island stopping at some small villages and a beautiful sandy beach (unfortunately I forgot my swim suit so we didn't get to go far in). We sat on the sand and built a sandcastle... fun! The most fun was just driving, this quad had more power than the one in Santorini (and better yet we had helmets) so we just cruised around.
