After much research on where we might like to travel this year, we set our eyes toward Greece. Greece offers many reasons for which one should visit. We have tried to limit ourselves to the top six reasons. There is no particular order, but the following is a short list for which a traveler should choose Greece as their next destination. Our top reasons to vacation in Greece: 1. The Food. I like being fit but my favorite part of traveling is always trying new foods and pastries, and Greece is the best place to try new foods. 5 August 2017 Our cruise ended this morning in Athens, we had enjoyed sailing on the Riveria and visiting all the fabulous ports. Glenn and Josie were flying in from London to join us for the next week and we were excited as had been looking forward to spending time with them. Our first two-night stay was at the Electra Palace Hotel which has a wonderful roof top pool with a view to the Acropolis, very inviting as the temperature was in the high thirties. Due to a delayed flight Glenn and Josie did not arrive until 11pm, it was not a problem to find somewhere to have a late supper as the Athenians seemed to eat out very late at night. A 10-year-old who likes ruins - who would have thought that? Emma has two nieces, Jonna and Julia. When the girls turned five the birthday gift from Ake, Emma and Emma's sister Anna was a trip to Paris and Disneyland. We have written about those trips previously on Travelblog. Geo: 37.9792, 23.7166We awake to grey skies and rain in Piraeus. Not what we had expected. The captains announcement the evening before had said clear skies and 75 degrees. Anyway we showered and headed to the Oceanview cafe for breakfast. Reflection is docked at the far end of the passenger port. Piraeus seems to be dived into two ports. One for passenger vessels such as ferrys, jetcats, hydrofoils and cruise liners and then the cargo/tanker port in the distance. Whilst eating breakfast we spot a large plume of black smoke rise up in the distance in the vicinity of the cargo port. We see little fire boats race out and start dousing it with water. It is too far to make out exactly what 'it' is but the smoke soon subsides.Reflection is docked much further out ... read more

We didn’t sleep well. The bed was comfortable but the noise rumbled on all night . We worried about Suzy. Would she be there when we got back? We are so used to sleeping in her it felt odd to be parted from her. Glenn was feeling ill too. All through the holiday he had had a tickling cough and the threat of something coming on. Today he started with a chesty cough. Our breakfast was thrown in. We ate various breads, croissants, cheese and ham, yoghurt and jams with copious cups of coffee. A full cooked breakfast , the so called American breakfast included fruit , eggs and bacon . The bread was fantastic slathered with thick butter washed down with wild cherry cordial.
