Reutlingen and Kassel We have in more than one of the previous blog entries from this summer in Germany mentioned that we deliberately tried to avoid visiting castles and palaces. Still we have already published a bunch of pictures of castles and palaces, so you might argue that we have failed here. In this blog entry we have to admit that we have more than failed in this regard. It leans more towards a total fiasco since the blog starts with a castle on a hill outside Reutlingen and almost half of the pictures come from when we visited a palace garden in Kassel. Nukuin katkonaisesti ja pääsin liikkeelle vasta klo 13 jälkeen. Oli aurinkoinen päivä. Ostin päivälipun joukkoliikenteeseen. Ajoin ratikalla joen yli ja kävelin keskustaan. En malttanut käydä museossa hyvällä säällä. Väkeä oli paljon liikkeellä ja terasseilla. Lämpötila oli parhaimmillaan 13 astetta. Olin pukeutunut sen verran kevyesti, että kävin kahvilla sisällä. Hotellin hintaan kuuluu jääkaapin juomat. Kävin hotellissa juomassa pari olutta. Tapasin illalla perulaisen kaverin, johon olin tutustunut Thaimaassa. Christmas Market Day 3.... It’s St Nickolas eve It’s 8 am and the covers have just been pulled off of me, good thing I was in my toasty PJ’s. Kirsten says get up Tinker Bell, we have a full schedule today. I roll out of bed clinging to any warmth within reach. Kirsten smiles and says You know what today is? Before I can even think of an answer, she squeals it’s St Nicolaus Day eve! Ok, for all you NON-Germans, this is a big day, mark your calendar for next year. Again, as I float from my room pulled to the kitchen by the aroma of German coffee all the way to another awesome German breakfast. Day 8 – The flight to Dubai where we transited to Frankfurt was at least 30 minutes early and the scheduled departure 20 minutes later so we were left with over 3 hours to kill at Dubai airport. However it is so strung out it took a good half an hour to get to our gate via lifts, escalators, a train and more lifts and added to that a break for a coffee and snack the time didn’t drag too much. However, given we had no more than 30 minutes sleep on the flight to Dubai we were both feeling pretty jaded by the time we boarded the Frankfurt-bound flight at 3 am.
