Garden gnomes
This statue made we wonder if this region/culture is where the common garden gnome statues originated from?! I've never considered the cultural roots of the garden gnome before, but your blogs with two gardens with such statues has made me think... :)

On garden gnomes
Garden gnomes were not a big thing where I grew up. I had hardly heard that they even existed until I was in my 20-ies. That might be the reason I never made the connection between the garden gnomes in gardens of historical buildings and modern day garden gnomes. But now that you point it out you I can totally see that they might be two manifestations of the the same thing. /Ake
