After a month, I am finally connected to internet, which means I am finally starting my blog. Last month I was living in Radolfzell with a German host family and attending an intensive German language course at Carl Duisberg Centren. It was all good, ol' fashion fun. But now, I am so thankful to be in Konstanz with my own living space. It was a really interesting experience living with a German family. They were nice enough but I have to say I was a bit miserable for the entire month of February. Upside: I got to eat traditional, home cooked, German cuisine! Yum Yum. Downside: No space to myself, uptight German mannerism, and 1 bathroom between 5 people. The town was insanely small, which didn't help. Without a bike, a buss pass, or any form ... read more

My last week in Radolfzell was bittersweet. I knew that I would be moving on and I would be able to see a new part of Germany and that was exciting, but I also knew that I was going to miss the people I had met and become so close with. The last week was filled with finishing up language classes and getting things ready for the move. The language school was a really great place to get my German up to speed and the small town was also very nice for starting my year in Germany. The living situation was perfect because I could come and go as I pleased, but the older woman was always there to talk to and practice my German with. In my last few days I made sure to have ... read more

My adventure in Germany has officially started. After spending the couple of days in DC with my Dad my program seminar started. I met all of the participants from all over the country. The ages are mostly 1 year out of college or just finished college. Everyone I have met is really nice and I have had a really good time getting to know people from states I have never been to. The seminar at Georgetown took was about 2 days. We went to lectures about culture shock and more details about the program. On the second day the program director gave us some bad news. Our flight to Germany was cancelled. We were still going to get to Germany but on different flights and it was no longer a non-stop flight. The original flight was ... read more
