Today we drove down to the town of Figeac in the car for a visit. Lovely place indeed, just filled with gorgeous old buildings. Being a Sunday is a was nice and sleepy with not too many other tourists walking around. We stopped for a coffee and later decided to buy little quiches at a boulangerie but were then stuck to find anywhere to sit to eat them and we needed a drink anyway. We settled at a cafe table under the market hall in the central square and drank our drinks while secretly eating our quiche when the waitress wasn’t looking. We weren’t being mean in not eating the café’s food, we had just fancied the quiche. The waitress was a bit drippy anyway (said they didn’t have jus d’abricot but when I asked what ... read more

Our wedding anniversary today. 28 years. I think we have been on holiday for at least 25 of the anniversaries 😊 which makes celebrating easy. Today we were heading for a campsite with a restaurant so Bob suggested we would eat there for dinner but I had been checking the reviews which reported the campsite restaurant was only open July and August so that snookered that idea. Another hot day and a little alarmingly when I was reading about the campsite the pool appeared to be closed on Saturday. Not 100% sure about that as the campsite in French said Samedi but the English version said Sunday which is tomorrow. Inexplicable that it could be closed any day at the weekend but it seemed likely that it would be one day or the other. We had ... read more

Midi Pyrenees here we come, and the best way to get there is on the Peage! Our house swap is in the village of St Pierre Toirac about 4 hours from Bordeaux; along the way we stop in Brive and have a wonderful meal at the local Hotel, La Truffe Noire, and it's a find. As always 3 courses are better than 2, and this place has first class food, presentation and service! www.la-truffe-noire.com Our hosts Giselle and Jacky are at the house to meet us and after a sharing a bottle of Rose they depart back to a village just outside of Albi where they live. The two bedroom cottage dates from the 16th century and is charming; an added bonus it has Sky TV! The situation is perfect for our 10 day stay and ... read more

Our first stop of the day was at the small town of Figeac. A slight detour not to see anything in particular just to go to somewhere we had never been to before as we started to wind our way northward and home. We were just wasting time and idling from place to place. Neither of us want to go home. We are still 800 miles from home and this will take us the best part of a week meandering from town to town. Stopping as we see fit. Again the beauty of motorhoming. You are not stuck to one place but can stop if you want or move on if the mood takes you. Our parking spot had again been sourced via the internet. It wasnt a full blown aire de camping car just a ... read more

I am currently walking the camino Frances through sothern france, tomorrow i will take a train to the boarder of Spain and France and continue my travels through the pyrenees. I am really getting a feel for the french way of life sitting in cafes, eating at boulangeries and eating four course meals with cheese and red wine. I have met some really great people along the way from all over the world. The netherlands, spain, canada, france, germany. It is hard to describe in words over a internet travel blog but i want everyone to know that it is an amazing experience! I am always ... read more
