Would have , could have and should have were the words that were going round and round our heads. Had we known about the train from Argeles we should have travelled to Perpignan from Elna. Had we known there was no ticket machine at the station we could have bought our tickets on line . The world seemed full of those should haves, could haves and would haves today. Our sat nav was even as muddled as we were are she kept getting muddled up finding roads to somewhere we wanted to visit . We stayed the night at a small aire in the village of Vinassin . The plan was to wake up, breakfast , wait until 10 am UK time and order our tickets for the National League Trophy Final at Wembley on line ... read more

Back on the train to Narbonne this time. Again inspired by the lovely Rick Stein, I took the long walk from the train station towards the small town centre which is based around the very pretty canal de la Robine. Again typical of this trip that it wasn't at it's most glorious as both sides of the main canal basin were dug up having lots of work being done on them to make it into a boulevard type arrangement. Picked up a great map from the tourist office and walked around most of the main sites, taking in the beautiful market hall and the archbishop's palace and town square. A light lunch of a lemon crepe and coffee and it was onto the little land train to see the places further afield. Much to my amusement ... read more

Drove from Castries to Frontignan. Stayed at a fairly large camp site but it was beach front so had only a stroll fron van to beach. Spent two days just beaching. Then on Fri went from Frontignan to Agdes to St Pierre sur Mer, very close to Narbonne. Another beach front stay, nothing to report...... read more

Have you ever had your exhaled breath pushed back into your lungs and up your nose? No? Well let me tell you, it's no treat. And why, you might ask, do I pose this question to all you faithful readers? Well here in Narbonne the views won't take your breath away, but the wind will slap your face with it and then proceed to ram it back down your throat, almost as if Mother Nature is giving us a taste of our own medicine, and sans the spoonul of sugar. Even locals are bundled up so that only their eyes peek out and café owners grudgingly serve you with fingerless gloves then scramble back in front of their personal heaters after the money has been passed over. Streets are nearly empty and those brave enough to ... read more

Geo: 43.1836, 3.00419 GUN 23 Günlerden PAZAR Kolayca Narbonne 'a vardık.

Monday 21st June We stayed a night in the town of Villefort which sits at around 3000ft in the hills and it was cold enough to require long trousers which we had thought would not be needed till we returned home. Liz drove down the twisting road from the mountains and as the sun was shining the temperature rose by about 10 degrees by the time we returned to near sea level. Some fellow travellers had told us that the town of Sauve was worth a visit, partly due to there being a museum dedicated to the art of using trees to grow three pronged pitchforks. It sounded bizarre enough for a passing visit, the town is an old medieval labyrinth backed by a ruined castle on the hilltop set amongst a stunning natural landscape of ... read more
