Monday 26th May 2014 As the shops were closed yesterday we were on the road by 0800 with only a cup of tea and half an apple each in our stomachs. It was a long climb to the Vranov Dam, the Greenways trail going over it. We only set a 30kms aim for today, to the wine town of Satov but Judy did notice that we would be climbing over 600m in total on this leg. For the first 13-14kms all we seemed to do was climb, albeit it was only steep in a few stops. Judy doesn't particularly like going down hills and when it is combined with either a potholed road or a dirt track she became even more concerned, walking down many long hills, much to Rags' disbelief. Soo, no horses. We got up early today to reserve the room for an extra night. We then got some food from the supermarket and then went to the internet place to figure out where the bus station is. Rude czech woman just giggled at me for not speaking czech although it was goddamn obvious that i wanted half an hour since i was pointer to her sign that said 1/2 hour. anyways, we miss the 11:00 so we take the 11:15 to Mikulov but the bus driver doesn't stop at the right stop so by the time we walk to the correct one, we miss our transfer. I spent a lovely weekend in Mikulov, not too far from Brno. This is the heart of the winemaking region. There's a beautiful chateau and a lot of wine cellars to pick from. You can easily go overboard out here and land up picking up a whole trunk full of wine from the rich selection available. I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of some traditional folk music in the square. A quick stop along the way at Lednice for a few beers. There's the beautiful chateau and grounds worth checking out.
