Well well what a day. Yesterday we took the Twin City Liner boat down the river from Bratislava, Slovakia to Vienna, Austria. The boat stalled midway down the river, slowed, and stopped. Then a few minutes later started going again. Definitely the best of our public transportation mishaps but it makes me think that our luck is like a parabola and now its steadily going to get worse and worse now that we reached the peak. Yesterday was a scorcher. Woke up late (12?) and went to the castel, which we actually got into. Due to reconstruction we couldnt get that great of a picture of the castle. (Also stole a rock which was a piece of the castle) Headed back to the room then out for some actual Slovakian Food. Amazing. Had Hen's Soup and pork medalions in a mushroom sauce with boiled potatoes and a 0,5L beer, all for less than 20 bucks. Then headed back to the room to get ready. Last night we went on a pub crawl after checking into the hotel and putting our stuff down. We started at the American speaking 'Slovak Pub' then headed to the Film Cafe which has movie posters covering the walls but they are all in Slovakian, so naming the movies turned into a game. Home Alone 2, The Mummy, Legally Blonde, Terminator, and a bunch of others. They also had a few of those big movie cut-outs that you see standing around theaters. Today we packed up, got some cold cuts, cheese and bread from Billa Supermarket and took a trolley to the station. But OF COURSE with our luck in matters of public transportation, the train is late by 90 minutes (even though the next train is 83 minutes after this one but that one is late too) and changed platforms. Changing platforms is not all that bad IF you know they changed the platforms. We got there just in time to catch the train to the capital of Slovakia. Soo, no horses. We got up early today to reserve the room for an extra night. We then got some food from the supermarket and then went to the internet place to figure out where the bus station is. Today we went to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzen, the home of the most famous Czech Beer and the place where all of the Pilsner Urquell for the Czech Republic is made. Apparently, Pilsner Urquell was the first light lager and 2/3 of all beers today have had their origins in the absolutely AMAZING beer. We went on the tour of the original and modern brewery. Coming off the Train we thought we were stuck in Eastern Europe by the looks of the train station but it turns out that the old city of Plzen is beautiful. It has a daunting cathedral in its empty town square but the surrounding buildings are gorgeous. I have a ton of pictures but i haven't found a computer that will let me put them up. woke up, finished packing, ate, got on the bus to go to the train station and oh yeah, GOT FINED 700 Kc! fucking bullshit.
