Today we began the ‘cream-on-the-cake’ of our holiday. Made our way to Supetar central arriving very sweaty for breakfast. When purchased we sat by the sea, ate and watched the small runabouts head out of the safety and calmness of the beautiful little harbour to do their business. We met up with Mel, Peter and Alesija and boarded the ferry to Supetar. To Mel’s unit we went, winding our way through the many locals, tourists and lanes, again arriving even more soaked in sweat than the earlier walk. Yes, the heat came quickly. Into an uber to Kastella Marina enjoying an informative chat and a few laughs with the young driver. Peter and Mel ran around completing the boating formalities. Gradually all members met up on the “Ocean House” our aptly named yacht. Peter completed the thorough ... read more

The island of Brac is located 15 km (representing a 50 minute ferry ride) off the coast of Split in the Adtiatic sea. To get there we had to board a Jadrolinija ferry and did this with our car. Nenad has been to Brac quite a few times with a yacht when sailing the archipelago of islands, but always stayed only in the marina of the town of Milna for an overnight stay. So he was looking forward visiting this time the island Brac, a place famous for beaches, mountain views and its marble stone quarries, besides historic sites and good restaurants of course. It's best known for the white-pebble beach Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape), a favored wind and kite surfing site outside the resort town of Bol. Our ferry cut across the calm waters of ... read more

The wind conveniently veered to the SW for a fast broad reach from Vrboska on Hvar to Brac. We are moored on a buoy owned by the Pipo restaurant where we ate lamb farmed by the owner. Sandy decided here daily exercise would present more of a challenge when performed on a SUP board. I watched in amazement.... read more

So after our day spent in Makarska, we made our way by ferry over to the Island of Brac............ in the dark........... on a winding road looking for a little fishing village called Salivan. We drove around and around in the dark in this little village and couldn't seem to make it to the little apartment I had rented. It seems that the main streets close at night( 6p.m.) to all cars, making it extreemly difficult when your GPS is telling you "turn around" "turn around". Finally had to call the owner to come and guild us, we would have never found it on our own. Lovely little village, easy to walk around and get everything you need. Could have stayed a month.... read more

Even though we are in a bit of a rush to pick up our Spainish visas in Toronto Canada, we had already booked a wonderful AirBNB on the island of Brac Croatia and had decided to stick to that plan. We had been through Croatia last year and loved it, stayed in Makarska in January and thought it would be wonderful to see it in full swing in the summer, our plan was to stay there but also wanted to see the islands. But we did get a bonus day in Makarska we weren't really planning on, but the ferrys in the summer are jammed, so we had a 6 hr wait. We had seen booths when we were there before and wondered would it would all be like in the summer.... read more

Today we had a really late start leaving the dock cos it wasn’t very far to the next island. We started sailing at 10, which was good cos we didn’t get woken up briefly at 6 with the motor of the boat starting! We sailed for an hour or so, had another great lunch, had our daily jump and swim for an hour or so and then headed to the very tiny island of Brac. Brac is known for its stone making and actually has a stone making college that is world famous! But this is like literally all that is here! There was one cafe with wifi which everyone from all boats were at. It took like 15mins to walk around the whole of the town so we literally all just chilled out forthe day ... read more

Hi everybody, LAst night we went to my FIRST ever Professional Soccer game. The Team from Split is called Hajduk and they played Dinamo from Zagreb. This is the Biggest game for the whole Country. It's the Biggest city ( Zagreb ) playing the second biggest city ( Split ).. Let me tell you I have Never experienced anything like that before in my whole life. The Fans are the craziest thing I have EVER seen. They are SOOOOOO PAssionate about their team. When the other team started to get close to scoring, They would light flares and that would cause Smoke to cover the whole field so it would confuse the other other team. You couldn't see ANYTHING.... The other thing I found ironic about it is, The teams Nickname is the " White Boys ... read more

There isn't much to write about the month of July spent living and camping on the island of Brač because we didn't do much! Our campground was located in the city of Bol and we were right on the beach. The campground was situated in the back of the Dominican Monastery. We swam almost everyday, went to the Bol library and checked out books, we sat on our favorite benches over looking one beach and read tons of books, grilled all of our meals like baked potatoes and grilled cheese on the communal grill in our campground, saw two movies at the outdoor movie theatre, enjoyed an occasional Croatian beer on the beach, went grocery shopping at the Konzum and Kerum, bought fresh bread from our favorite Pekara and made friends with other campers from Slovenia, ... read more

The weather improved as we finally made our way to eat at Triton in a protected cove on Lastovo. We practiced the Hat-overboard drill and as you can see both the hat and the band from Ecuador survived the drill. On the history front we visited the Vela Spila archeological site, a cave 20 minutes walk above Vela Luka on Korcula. The cave has been continuously inhabited since 15,000 BC and was in need of a fresh coat of paint! Excavated objects, including the skeletons from four graves from the Stone Age, the oldest burial grounds found in Croatia, are exhibited in a small museum in Vela Luka. The hillsides on many of the islands are terraced with many ancient walls and are now home to olive groves. The wind has been gaining strength, fortunately from ... read more

Sarah and I are now on an island called Brac in a town named Bol, there is a beach of sorts but there is no sand. We found a hotel that is almost in our budget (it is if we dont indulge in other things such as wine, which we actually have been... , and is three times cheaper than it is in tourist season), comes with breakfast and dinner and we have taken a break for 3 days to rest and relax in luxury. We had massages the other day and have enjoyed having no new bug bites while in the rooms (we had a couple in Zadar and Split that have still not dissapeared). We are also both more tanned then when we got here, and it is easy to watch the planes fly ... read more
