Well, after meeting back up with Buber at the Bearder Monkey, Jordan and I decided that we would join him on what we thought would be a fun and exciting volcano trek. Now, perhaps I was being a little naive, but I was picturing your typical, awesome lava flowing volcano so some people may not share my disapointment with the climb. The good news was that instead of taking a $20 tour up the 'volcano', we did it on our own and the total trek ended up costing about 6 dollars. All you have to do is take a chicken bus, ask them to drop you off near Mombacho (which they pretty much know anyway cause we're white), and then follow the hill up. hi guys...i´m here in granada, nicaragua just chilling. got in yesterday and i will be exploring this cute little town today. super excited. not much to tell. altho i had a great time in roatan and copan. the 14 plus hour bus ride from san pedro sula, honduras down to granada, nic was kinda boring, but not too horrible for a ride that long. anyways, gonna enjoy my time here in nicaragua before i head back to costa rica to fly out to go back home....just in time to start school...oh joy...anyways, i´m good and safe so laters!... read more


Spent the rest of the afternoon, after the blog' crazyness swinging in a hammock with the winter of our discontent and a few cold victorias. I watched part of anchorman while I ate my burrito, which brings me to a issue. I´m finding it anoying staying at the monkey for only one reason. after 4 meals here in nicaragua, I have eaten here 4 times since the food is so good, wonderfully cheap and filling and danm convinent. I recomend the tacos burritos, quesidillias and burgers. oh I just stumbled accross a quote that I had in my last travel journal. With very few clean clothes left D and I decided to wash our clothes by hand to save a few dollars I happened to snag a photo of the excitement. You may notice that my hair is missing. The pre'mullet was growing in so I walked through Granada and sat down in the kill box as it were. luckily a beautiful and friendly nica stopped the crazed barber from giving me the true buzz cut after my pleas of just a little off the top ;)... read more

D, P (Kiwi boy) , E and J (the Girls from Holland) and I travled to the Mombacho Reserve to see the fumadores, sulfuric steam streaming out of the mountian side (proof that the Volcano is still active.) the Walk there sucked 12km Away we left the monkey at 9:45 and started the hike at 1:20 here's to mass transit.... read more
