Hola from the hottest driest place in Costa Rica (at least thats what it feels like)! This place is like Cuerici in the sense that I dont feel like i am in Costa Rica at all. However that is the last similarity. It feels like a very hot summer in California everyday, which I like a lot! Definitely better than the constant rain in Monteverde. There is a really neat marsh with lots of wildlife - including crocodiles! I wish I could take pictures but I have only seen them at night. If you walk on the boardwalk in the dark, you can see there eye shine. Kind of creepy. But also awesome. Also mosquitoes. Boo. Last week me and Jakub had a chance to visit Hojancha and had a great opportunity to visit Daycare and Nutritional Center. Hojancha is a small town located in the Province of Guanacaste. The origin of the name Hojancha comes from a tree located in the region, which the Indians called broad-leaved, because of the very special characteristics and the size of their leaves. Even more, it is one of the safest towns in the country and it is reflected that residents feel in ... read more

Halfway through my day I get told by one woman that I should be more careful or I'll end up as ugly and black as them... it's just like your hearts stops.. once I restarted my heart I told her that she wasn't ugly and she gives me a look before walking away... another woman stops ... read more

I return to reality via a bus that only reaches about three quarters of the way to my community from then onward a local has promised to pick me up. I get off when I see his car. He asks me how my trip went and I mention that we talked about bio-digestors he is totally on board and already knows how difficult it can be to get on the waiting list for government classes.. I tell him i'll look into it. I then outline my administrative tasks for the next month and a half he tells me that they are ridiculously large for the time I have. I acknowledge that but point out that they must be done he makes a better you them me face. He starts talking about bio-digestors again. I think hell ... read more
