After Morocco we took our night train to Madrid and planned continuing straight on to Barcelona, but the train was full so we were stuck in Madrid for the day and had to take a night train to Barcelona. Hello Everyone! Heading to Africa? Really? But it’s so far away. How did you do that? Well, Morocco is actually only about a one hour ferry ride across the Mediterranean Sea, but the culture there makes you feel a million miles away from Europe: crowded markets, a Moroccan carpet store, and camels. We were very excited about Portugal since their language is Portuguese (obviously), which Heather is fluent in and I can get by from what I learned in Brazil, but also this was going to be the first time that we would be somewhere with warm beaches since we started traveling over a month ago! Hello Everyone! The Kingdom of Spain (the official name) was our next destination after the great time we had in Paris, and Madrid - our first stop in Spain - was a great introduction to the country. They had “good eats” (Calamari sandwiches are very popular), friendly people, great museums, and bullfights. We took an overnight train there and shortly after we found our hostel and settled in. Hello Everyone- Paris was our first stop on our trip to France. We did way too much in Paris for us to tell you about, but hopefully the pictures will provide enough of a story. Hello Everyone! We basically had about 6 days to take on the countries of North Ireland and Ireland and we wanted to make sure we did them justice with such little time. We started off with one day in Belfast, one day in Dublin, one day in Killarney, one day in Cork, and then our last two nights back in Dublin before we took off for France. Hello Everyone! Our time in Scotland was short, very short, but we took in what we could and had a great time running around. The landscape out here is unbelievable and the architecture is absolutely amazing (many cuts and lines…get it Fred?). We were expecting rain in Scotland, since it is well know for that, and it pretty much rained the whole time there. Hello Everyone! The time after Carnaval has just seemed to fly right by, so fast that we can’t believe we are returning to the states in just 4 days! We had an amazing send off from Recife (more on that in a bit), but currently we are in Southern Brazil near Sao Paulo in a suburb called Alphaville and have been since the beginning of March. Hello Everyone! Carnival, spelled Carnaval in Portuguese, has ended which is a little sad, but at the same time is probably best for our bodies, we need some rest! We started our celebrations on Friday, Feb. 24th, and didn’t stop until about 4:00pm Wednesday, Mar. 1st. We did get some sleep in between, but I am sure we won’t be getting up as earlier as we have been.
