So I couldn´t sleep my last night in potosi, not just cause it was freezing (but it WAS)... I don´t know why. In any case I got to the bus station really early and bought my ticket for Tupiza, a secret gem in Bolivia. Totally resembles the wild west from old movies (in fact many american flicks were filmed here, go figure) with dry hills covered in sporadic low laying bushes and tall cacti. Really cool!! So as typical Bolivia, the bus was over an hour late to leave but thankfully we finally left. When I wasn´t sleeping I enjoyed watching [View Full Entry]

So I find myself over 4000 m above sea level in Potosi, world famous for its mining. How did I get here? Well leaving La Paz was a blurr. The last day I tried to grab a flight to the jungle but seeing as how planes can´t land in the rain and it was raining i bought a ticket for an overnight bus to sucre. The amazing feeling of empowerment and freedom was powerwing me all through my morning, but then I began to deflate and grow tired as a I dodged crazy motorists, one of which literally drove into me [View Full Entry]

So I tried to wake up at 5 am yesterday but my alarm clock failed me... sort of... and i missed my bike ride!!! AHHHHHH!! I was so bummed about having to do the same old same old in la paz for another day but decided to bust out my lonely planet and make the most of it. As backpacker luck would have it I met an Ausi, Dave, at breakfast who´s fight had been canceled that day as well. So we decided to venture together!! Totally cool day. We hopped on a local bus and took it out of town, [View Full Entry]

Ok, so so much to say!! Where to begin... So I left cusco and hopped a bus to puno. The bus driver was nice enough to wake me up at 5 am and drop in the middle of a dark road, alone in a questionable area. You see the bus continues to La Paz, and he was too lazy to drive the extra 2 blocks and drop me at the much safer terminal where all the other buses went. Half awake, compleately unware I stumbled of the bus into the cold night with my back pack, confused and scared. I asked [View Full Entry]

So life in cusco is pretty awesome. Walking the narrow (dangerous for crazy motorists) cobble stone steets. Its true you are harrassed at every moment to buy something but you can always try running. lol. plus a three course meal for less that 2 dollars is not a challenge to find. i´ve mostly been shopping, but am DONE now. gorgeous alpaca, hats, scarfs and mits for 2 or 3 dollars, but 70 dollars to ship all the crap i bought. so today me and one of my argentinian friends, Huakin, went exploring way up high the sights above cusco. then for [View Full Entry]

lol. just kidding!!! The title sounds dirtier than it is! Jaime the hostel manager made me put the last bit in. RECAP - thanks Gina and Ana-Maria (the german girls) for wandering Arequipa, and the tiny little towns surrounding it with me!! so basically i recovered from altitude sickness episode numero uno, and a group of us (us plus Adres and Cecilia) went to some small town to look at an old mill and then wander up some farm terraces into deshelved quaint neighbourhoods, following the sounds of small explosions- like fireworks or guns. probably fireworks as there was tons of [View Full Entry]

so yesterday i spent a lovely lazy day in huacachina, the desert oasis and perhaps it boardered over 35 degrees or more in the day. i passed the time walking around the oasis and talking to the locals. or rather being persued by the bracelet makers. antonio, ronny (aka pinky), his friend, and the strange lagoon dog sheppard julio cesar. all in all though they proved to make for some interesting conversations, plus i got an awesome deal on a ton of stuff and a few regalados. its kind of funny cause every peruvian immediately asks you to be his girl [View Full Entry]

First a brief recap with pics of my time in Montezuma, the place I visited before departing for Lima. So basically I spent my last few days living in my cool little shanty apartment. Eran left me but I adopted two wonderful Americans, a couple, Christian and Angie. Together we split the rent and it was great. So I did end up going to santa terasa, gorgeous beach!!! I climbed more waterfalls, the next day, and also did a 10km hike mostly uphill in a park called cabo blanco or something. Twisted my ankle a bit but am ok now. THe [View Full Entry]

So as my plane desended into Lima I began to crap my pants. The locals on the plane had confirmed that indeed this is a dangerous city... gulp I was relieved to see the taxi pick up from my hostel with my name. Totally nice guy. So was the staff at Pirwa in the ritzy district of miraflores. Later that night I met a beautiful german girl, miriam, with bright blue eyes and blong hair. She was a second time solo traveller in south america and said she loved it!! This made me feel better. So the next day we explored [View Full Entry]
