Wow!! your blog is so interesting. I was searching for information about Brazil, and then It came out your blog so instead of finished my assignment get hook up with your blog very interesting. Pretty cool to see that you accepted the Barrancabermeja challenge. I visited twice there already and girl, it is different to Long Beach, CA most definitely. Hot weather made me sweat so I drank some club colombias, partied hard and had good times. thanks for sharing your experience.

I recently came across your blog and have really enjoyed reading about your experiences. I've traveled to the Amazon twice, both times spending two weeks on a boat exploring. I relate to much of what you mention - enjoying the simple things, sleeping so well in a hammock, how kind and open the people are. I also am learning so much from you, from your first hand experiences really exploring and living there and through your interactions with people. You're experiencing many aspects that I have wondered about. Thanks for keeping this blog!

i did try the water and they said the same thing, but basically it tasted and felt normal - i think the energy comes more from the beaty of the place and the people than the water but who knows... take care

Hi, I am from Maceio, but I live in Houston - Texas. Since I cannot visit my hometown every year, I miss it a lot every thing about it and I get so happy and proud and I see/hear "Gringos" speak great things about it. You just visited the most cute city in Brazil... Wish you had gone during Summer time (December-March) then you would have 100x more fun. Next time you decided to go there ask your friends to take you to these following restaurants: Wanchaco, Massarela, Bodega do Sertao, and Cascao. Those are the best restaurants in Maceio. Also, ask them to take you to the Gunga islands. Hope you had a great experience. Luana.

Hahaha! Good ole Julio, or the 'Lord of the Desert' as he also likes to be called. That guy is unreal....if you're a girl he's chatted up, and u stay around for more than a week, he starts to get really scared. Then it gets funny!!!
