I am now a resident of quincy and a student of quincy college !!!!! for those who remember my blog about wanting to go to school , its a dream of mine that i am finanally achieving and im so happy about it. it makes up for whats been a pretty shit year. So its been a very long time since i wrote in here and figured after reading through some old entries i would put in an update, well the last time i was on here i was in sunny asia. after going home for a few months and then to work in the states for the summer , i find myself in Montreal, Canada. The question im asking myself now is why? I did have a personal reason for being here but now there is absolutely no good reason for me to be here. The city itself is very nice with many sprial staircases lining the streets to the many old style apartments that are here and there there are many great places to go and eat relax and just hang out. but i dont want to ... read more

February 10th 2009

So day 2 of my trip to Angkor and this is the first time I really have done a solid sightseeing adventure. The thing is it has started to feel a bit like I’ve seen it before. At the same time I can’t stop looking at the temples. They mesmerize you in some way that you have to look at each lots of different reasons such as intricate carving and see yet another Vishnu or Buddha. Somehow, all the same gods, in the different temples, manage to look totally different. This could be due to lots of various reasons such as the weather for example. Seeing the eroded remains of what was once a carefully stone carved face somehow fascinates me. Today we started with what is dubbed; “the mother of all temples” Angkor Wat. ... read more

January 24th 2009

Well right now I am lying down on a bed made from a piece of heaven itself (it’s actually foam) but after the past 37 hours it feels amazing. So after my rant on school and the plan for Cambodia, I am actually now here after hours of torture on trains and busses and queues (lines). Dan and I had decided to check out of our rooms early as we weren’t going to be sleeping in them and we may as well stay awake and power through as we were leaving for the train station at around 4 am. This turned out to be a money saver but at the same time a life killer. The day went by quite fast and before we knew it , it was 11 pm. I thought that 4 ... read more

January 22nd 2009

Well its midnight on Thursday the 21 of January and apparently a new era has begun with the inauguration of President Barrack Obama. First of all I will point out that I am English and half Italian. So why am I so interested in this? Well as I am currently sat in a hot sticky night in Bangkok, I have spent the last 2 and a half weeks desperately trying to find a way to go to school in the USA, I wanted to study nursing, this may be out of reach as I was not too great back in school and would have to go and retake the exams that I should have tried harder at in hindsight, It leaves me wondering a lot about my future. I have to finally decide as its ... read more

So if you remember reading one of my last entries, I was on a plane to bangkok when I wrote it. I have been plaing catch up for the last 2 weeks as I have been to busy doing stuff so I can write about it. The flight was a pleasant one and the entry process was the same as usual. when i got through if not quicker as i have already been through 3 times before. Once i got my bags and waited for a taxi. I went back to the wild orchid villa hotel which is a nice place and you should read back in my previous entries to know more about it. But I got there and fell asleep as it was 2 am and when I woke up the next day I ... read more

well I honestly forgot about a few of the other things that I did while I was in Beijing. This isnt a long entry just an addition to the last one. So one amazing day was spent in the new olympic area that was built for well....... the olympics . This was a spectacular sight. The whole area was brand new and as the olympics really only finished in july the stuff still had that brand new feel to it. There were all the buildings which had the indoor stuff like hockey and gymnastics , but the centre piece of the area was the Birdsnest. This is a building that looks like an actual bird's nest its a building that looks like its going to fall down at first but once you take in its beauty ... read more

Well right now im sat in a five star hotel overlooking the beach waiting for my breakfast /lunch to arrive. But it was not even a week since I was in Beijing and I thought I better start talking about my 10 days there or I would probably forget some of the detail, you know what I mean. So we got the bullet train and arrived in Beijing and it was a very busy place compared to all the other towns we had been to. The people didn’t even stare at us any more as they are that used to seeing foreigners. Our first task was to get from the train station to the hotel my mother had kindly paid for a hotel for a few nights over Christmas. However we didn’t know where it was ... read more

January 6th 2009

The train from Nanjing was a sleeper train which when we boarded at 11 pm seemed like it was going to be easy. Get on, go to sleep, wake up, get off. As usual this wasn’t the case. We got on board and found that our bunks where in the middle of a 3 high bunk bed. This was ok but the guy above was snoring pretty loudly which was pretty annoying plus I like to sleep with all my belongings on an overnight train as you never really know whose around when you’re sleeping. We eventually got to sleep and I was awoken at around 7 thinking the train was getting in soon so I slowly woke myself up and then waited a while to wake Becca. I looked out of the window and ... read more

Well the trip to nanjing entailed taking another train which in it self is an experience which I must say I wouldn’t be able to complete without my chinese speaking girlfriend. The chinese, I find are very poor at forming queues ( lines if your american ) and I have noticed that the only way a line is formed is if there are actual barriers made so people have to stay within them. I have become very good at telling people to get behind me or just pulling there arm away if they try to hand over money before me. So, we got the ticket to nanjing which is about an hour away from Shanghai. We had set off late to get the train and so we arrived at nanjing in the evening where I ... read more
