well I honestly forgot about a few of the other things that I did while I was in Beijing. This isnt a long entry just an addition to the last one. So one amazing day was spent in the new olympic area that was built for well....... the olympics . This was a spectacular sight. The whole area was brand new and as the olympics really only finished in july the stuff still had that brand new feel to it. There were all the buildings which had the indoor stuff like hockey and gymnastics , but the centre piece of the area was the Birdsnest. This is a building that looks like an actual bird's nest its a building that looks like its going to fall down at first but once you take in its beauty you begin to look how it is structuraly built and appreciate how it has come to stay standing. Also for the first time in my life, I stood on a frozen lake. it was pretty scary honestly as I have never done it before and the only reason I am scared is because the only experiences I have had with walking on ice is reading
the paper and seeing that a boy had fallen through it after walking on the lake. It just doesnt get that cold in england. So after seeing lots of people there I against my wishes went on with Becca leading the way (its ok for her she won't go trough, she's tiny and weighs nothing). Anyway i digress, we payed for the tickets which are 5 pounds, and went into the stadium, I was expecting to be able to walk through the stands and see onto the running track but they had a huge christmad tree up in the centre and you were allowed to go anywhere in the stadium. I imagined myself being in the middle with all the people looking at me if I had just won a gold medal. its quite an amazing feeling.
We walked around and there is only so much you can do there so we started to make our way back . Another thing we did was go to the zoo . it literrally cost about 3 pounds to get in and once I was in there i saw why.
I went to the Panda house and was pleased to Pandas
doing some cool stuff and looking like they were well treates which is something I always lookfor in a zoo. one even came right up to me at the window. the trouble was, like anywhere in china, that there were people all over me trying to get a good look at it. We walked around looking at the birds and their enclosure was fairly samll for a zoo but it is a zoo in the middle of a city i suppose. We then got to the Lions, tigers and other big cats oh my !!!! What I saw made me very angry. The first thing was the size of thes animals and they were just kept in cages, they were going crazy walking in circles trying to get some movement, although i do think they let them out one at a time into the out side enclosure, but an animal should never be kept like that . it was cruel. The second thing that annoyed me were the people ,sometimes they are just so stupid and im not scared to say the chinese ones dont help there case much. They were taking pictures with flashes on which if any one
has half a brain cell would be painful for the animals eyes, and the second thing that actually really pissed me off were that they were banging things and making noises to try and get them angry, I told one guy to be quiet but im not sure he understood but the look i gave him and the international sign language of the finger definitely did the trick. saddened, I walked out feeling for those animals wondering if anything could be done to make them happier creatures.
We then came across the aqaurium that was aparently the biggest in asia. Although this was better than the zoo people still kept putting food and other things in tropical tanks so i was just over it and left them to their ignorance. There were a lot of tropical tanks and the usual sharks and rays overall it was a pretty decent aquarium.
As I said this is more of a quick note after the last enrty so im gonna end it here
peace x
