I've finaly left sri-lanka. It's kinda hard to believe and it's taking some adjusting. For example, I'm now learning how to ride a motorbike. In bali here, you dont have a choice or any-other method of getting to the breaks so... I'm learning. I wouldn't say that bali or kuta in particular is the best place to learn but so far so good and no accidents. The waves have been alright so far. I wouldn't say that theyve been better then in sri-lanka but this is the way it goes. You can honestly see htough how good the waves could be if just the swell would change or pick-up a little but that'll come soon. For now, my ankle is as swollen as can be from a little well placed knock of the board write on ... read more

Alright. Here I am in Hikkadewa finaly over my latest injury. It was my first day back in the water and we were havin a good session on some small waves that were slowly pickin up on the "lazy left"in midigama when this french guy let go of his board in the white wash. Long story short, I was duck divin the wave, he was 3m ahead of me and 2m to the right when suddenly, eyes closed under the water I get speared write in the midle of my black spot of hair. I couldn't believe it. Whatev I continued paddling to out of the oncomming set and when I get there I knew. Everyone was lookin at me and I knew. At the same time I started seeing blood drip off my eyelashes. I ... read more

So ya, since new years I've not really done anything to exciting. Well, I just mean the routine has been the same for the last month now. Shortly after new years I went to the south coast of sri-lanka visiting the villages of Midigama, Weligama and Mirrissa on a 10day trip with a crew of us. Then soon after returning to Hikkadewa I relocated to Midigama where I stayed for the final two weeks of January. All i've been doing is wakin up early, gettin myself into the seemingly cold water as the sun comes up, exhausting myself for three hours, breakfast, lie in my hammok until late afternoon and then go back in the water for another three hours before dinner. Some would say it sounds a little boring just sittin in a hammock all ... read more

The last most of you had heard from me was that I was planning on staying in Hikkadewa for xmas and new years. However, after bein on the beach for a week I got restless and a few of us decided that we'd head inland for xmas instead and have an adventurous one rather then a beachstyle xmas. So the italians left before me to kandy while I waited around till my 45$ custom made board bag was being finished and I was lucky enough to witness the craziest parade I'd ever imagined(it completely out-did the indian style parade I saw in pushkar for the camel fair... completely). To lead the parade there were about 15-20 boys(10-20years old) swinging these 5m long braided ropes in circles around there heads to clear space, then they'd stop and ... read more

So it's been about two/three weeks since I last updated everyone, but thats not always a bad thing. As this time I've just been really busy and havin a great time since I last wrote. After leaving Hampi I slowly started to feel better as my boddy/mind recovered from the exhausting india trip I put myself through(I was way way to ambitious and ended up nearly destroying the india section of the trip). Today I paid my first weekly room/food bill here in Hikkadewa and will probably be here at least another few days. I'm thinking of moving down the island a little farther to try and find a less crowded break but we'll see what happens. Most people seem to come and just get stuck here in Hikkadewa, which might end up happening to me ... read more

To everyone who thought traveling was all positive and exciting: The day before I wrote this letter to mom I spent the entire day in bed with a, well lets just call it an unsettled stomach... savy? Well, I went back to bed after talking to ya(we spend an entire hour on the phone) and had an alright time. I waited a good hour almost before taking the pill(anti-biotic) to make sure it would stay down... it did. I then slept with the light on all night as the dark was to lonely almost or something, i dont really know. (makes me smile thinking about it lol) I just really think that I need some rest and to slow down for a bit. I woke up feelin alright but I went out for a short walkabout ... read more

So I'm now in Palolem Goa. Getting here was again completely exhausting (I think i've now said that every time I move somewhere new since leaving nepal). Starting with a night bus from pushkar, a day/night off in delhi then right away hopping onto a 2night/1day long train ride that wasn't as bad as it sounds but even worse then I would have imagined it to be at the same time. Pushkar... Last I let everyone know I was going to be heading over to pushkar to go see the camel fair. Well, I'm honestly not really sure what my opinion of the camel fair is. The weird thing about it is that it was exactly like the pictures I've seen but at the same time, almost nothing more (if that makes sence). It was almost ... read more

Ahhh.... finaly... I'm lettin myself relax. So... since getting to nepal Anja and i have been going nuts with all the stuff there is too do here. Trekking and now we just got back from a 10day rafting trip/expedition down the Karnali river in the very remote areas of Western nepal. So basicaly, every day of the rafting trip was wake up, wipe all the sand off that was stuck to my face ebcause I rolled off or Anja hustled me off the sleeping matt onto the sand and then I didnt realise and just continued drooling... hence the sand on my face. Go drink tea for half hour, watch everyone else pack up there dry bags ( we didnt ever need to do this because we just wore the same clothes the whole time... so ... read more

It's nearly been a full month since I updated everyone and I as mentioned, Anja and I were headed out onto the anapurna circut. Well what can be done in 17days, took us 23ish... i think. We started off day 1 on track with a crew of us walking together. It turned out that there was a crew of us on the flight that all had the same kind of agenda. We all wanted to get out on the anapurna circut before the trail got really busy during the real high season. The high season is usualy the busiest because it usualy has the best weather. But, weather is weather and the monsoon is supposed to end around the end of september so we headed out anyways. The monsoon actualy did finish during the midle of ... read more

Tommorow Anja myself and our Brasilian/american buddy Leo are catching the bus to the start of the anapurna circut tommorow. We have told the governments (canadian/nepalies) that we'll be gone for about a month. Tommorow we'll be heading to besisahar to bhulbhule (where we spend the first night and from where we actualy start walking). I dont really know where we're planning on spending each night but basicaly the plan is to slowly make our way up to manang where we'll spend an acclimatization day at 3540m before heading in to do a side trip to the tilicho(or something like that) lake. We'll then continue around the circut and go over the thorung pass (5416m) on our way to Johmsom. From there we'll continue along the circut until we get to the turn-off point for the ... read more
