Word of advice, if you’re planning on booking travel…..look into it! We had to somehow make our way from Barcelona to Madrid and realised it was a good 5 hours and 100€ by train! However, by bus it was only 3 hours more and more than a quarter of the price!!! 8 hours later we were in Madrid!!!! Woohoo! Ahhhhh we fell in love with Madrid…we don’t know if it was the beautiful weather we had or the people, but in all it’s just a gorgeous city!! We booked a hotel right in the centre next to la Puerta del Sol. Nice and clean hotel and coincidently well situated with a Maccas right next door (haha) but little did we know that at all hours of the day and night there were pro’s lingering around our ... read more

After such an awful plane ride to Barca, we managed to get to out hotel and sleep for the whole day til night - Mind you, this was after…..catching the bus from the airport to Catalunya; Then spending the next half hour figuring out which metro to take (it wasn’t as easy as we thought…….at first! We actually fell in love with the metro in Spain compared to that of Sydney!!); to then deciding it wasn’t worth the half hour wasted walking around the plaza and then caught a cab to our hotel, which after7€ later (2€ for luggage!) we found out was only a 10 minute walk from where we were!!! Ahhhh we eventually made it! The weather in Barcelona was very cold compared to the hot weather we had in Uruguay - but surprisingly ... read more

After spending two days in Barcelona we decided to visit Yannick's cousins Mel and Seba a up in Huesca. We originally considered only staying a couple of days so not to impose but after we got a taste of 1. beautiful city of Huesca 2.Seba who continuously put us in hysterics (you don't understand! Put Yannick and Seba together in a room and they'll keep you entertained for hours!!) and 3. Mel feeding us anything and everything! we ended up staying there for the next two weeks! Huesca's a little town up north of Zaragoza...It's soo beautiful! We had such a great time in Huesca and love the fact to come back again it's such a close flight over!! Sorry Mel and Seba...you haven't gotten rid of us that easily! haha On the first day out ... read more

Carnival…dancing…birthdays…cerveza and pizza are what mostly made up our last few weeks in Uruguay! Of course we did manage to squeeze in some more sightseeing too! Seriously, we couldn’t have picked a better time to come back to Uruguay! Las Llamadas were on both the Thursday and the Friday nights. Just recently they have separated Las Llamadas into two nights as previously it would start at 9pm and finish in the earl hours of the morning!!! For those who don’t know (and those who do can still read along!) Las LLamadas is a traditional festival held on the street Isla de Flores in the city centre Barrio Sud. (For more info http://www.carnaval.com/uruguay/ )The costumes, the tambores, the dancers…its nuts!!! We’ve seen it on tv before but nothing beats being in that crowd! Luckily we managed to ... read more

Ok, ok, so in between all the travelling from we’ve finally managed to squeeze some time in to update this blog with some pics (yeh yeh we know! About time!! Sorry!) Randomly we decided to cross over the river to visit Argentina…why?? Coz we heard Ozomatli were doing a free gig there (that, and of course to visit more family!!) So off we went on the Buquebus to Argentina a quick 3 hours ride. We were lucky enough to stay with Yannick’s Tia Yvonne and family…I don’t think there’s isn’t a country where Yannick does not have family!!! We got there the Saturday and that night Ozomatli were playing at the Roxy in Buenos Aires…on the website it said 7pm so as you would, we at there at 6.30pm. Hmmm imagine our surprise when we didn’t ... read more

Well here we are in sunny Uruguay! Still haven’t had a chance to relax a little because again we’ve been all over the place…we’ll try to run it down as short as we can! )and sorry we tried to minimise the pics but we took too many!!!) The flight was long but after what felt like forever we made it hip hip hooray! We’ve come at a great time to be in Uruguay with so much to make the most of…Carnaval, the beaches, soccer…its Nuts! Oh and how could I forget finally meetn up with Belle….a new face to our travels! Within a couple of hours of arriving we headed off into the city to see El Desfile de Carnival where all the groups of the Carnaval parade in the city streets - just a taste ... read more

The last few weeks in Peru were a blur…we spent most of them running around trying to fit in as much as we could as possible. First up we visited Huanca Pullcana a site in the middle of Miraflores where archaeologists have discovered a sacred pyramid built during the 4th Century. It’s crazy coz you have this massive pyramid and in the background all the city buildings! Basically, 50 years ago it was this massive rubble of dirt and kids would go there with their dirt bikes and play on this field until the owners of the land finally sold it 20 years ago to the government. It was then that archaeologists started to uncover this sacred pyramid, later finding mummies, gold and all….crazy crazy…the history that Peru has! You can just imagine how much is ... read more

So here we are…..sorry it’s been three weeks since our last blog but it’s just been crazy! Haven’t had a chance to update this but we’ll try now to summarise as short as we can!! (we’ll try!) Well let me just start in saying if you're deciding to rent a car here in Peru, i suggest you think otherwise! A driver from another country would crash as soon as their car hit the roads here! Road rules??? What are they?? Every 2 seconds another person is cutting you off....zebra crossing?? They don't exist here!! Then again with taxis so cheap (a 30minute taxi ride will costs you approx $5 and that's pushin it!!) No will definitely not be renting a car here!!! Mind you, when you're running late to make your plane to Cusco at 5am, ... read more

Well after spending the whole of Christmas day on planes or up in the air we finally made it!! We managed to barely sleep on Christmas Eve therefore the 16 hour plane ride to Santiago plus the 8 hours wait at Santiago airport went faster than we thought!!! Before we knew it we were in Peru! Lima in a nutshell? The place we're staying at in Miraflores (Yannick's grandfather's place) is awesome! Modern little 2 bedroom apartment with a stroll away from the beach and main shopping strip! We really can't complain with anything at the moment! Imagine my surprise when i turn a corner and see a Gold's Gym! Ehh Golds Gym?? In Peru?? There's about 10 of them just in Lima!!! Hmmm advertising option perhaps!!!! No no we're on holidays!!! We hafta say though, ... read more
