So i'm, like, Australian, right.
I have like, an american boyfriend. I know, right?

I'm currently chilling in america, travelling around the florida/north and south carolina areas visiting the boy's family, and enjoying the different lifestyle.

Well, i've recently spent most of this year working my ass off to get over here and see him, and this is the only way I could think to document my experience while over here in the U.S, so I hope you enjoy the blogs and photos and stuff =]

So, it was time to leave Florida and meet up with my Dad in L.A. I don't even know how to describe how it felt to leave Florida, I mean there were just so many emotions that I can't quite put into place, so I'm not even going to attempt too. But what I can say is that I left knowing that i'd had an amazing trip, and would definitely be back at some stage. Colorado was amazing. The flight in was short, the snow was thick and the sky was blue, we were ready for a good time. The drive from Denver to Vail was about 2 hours with whatever stops we had in between. Denver was relatively flat considering that Colorado is known for its mountainous terrain, but as we exited the outer regions ... read more

When all good things come to and end. Sadly, this will probably be my last entry from Tampa, Florida. This week has felt so surreal and gone by rather quickly as the anticipation of my departure on the 19th of January grows more and more intense. How did it get to be 2011? How did the last 6 months of my life flash by so quickly? By the amount of stuff that I HAVEN'T bought, you could guess that i've only been here for a couple of fun-filled weeks. This week has basically been about getting anything that I can't get back at home, seeing everybody before I leave, and just doing things one last time, like eating at the Olive Garden! I know it's not the most amazing food but it's my favourite place ... read more

IT WAS TIME TO GO TO HARRY POTTER WORLD! :D The room was booked for 2 nights, courtesy of Bill and his accumulation of Holiday Inn points, and we were due to leave early Thursday morning and arrive some time on Saturday. Butttttt that didn't quite go to plan. Wednesday night at about 9pm I started to feel unwell, sore stomach, headache, slowly rising fever. The first thing that came to my mind was "absolutely typical", quickly followed by "I need lots of panadol and some sleeping tablets" and that was the end of that. Well actually, it was not the end of that in fact, seeing as I woke up at 5am wanting to be sick and sporting a nice fever all over. This was the point in which I decided that I would not ... read more

Many things have happened to me in the space of about a month, so here’s a blog dedicated to those particular things. So it was time to experience my first Thanksgiving with the Becks. The day itself was considerably lazy, the American spirit was high and facebook was filled with thankful statuses. Our plan for the day was to go and eat ourselves into a coma at the Uelman house (long time friends of Will and his family) and subsequently sleep it off the next day. There was so much food to choose from; a HUGE turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potatos (candied yams) 2 types of stuffing and all the pumpkin and apple pie we could ask for. I couldn’t finish an entire plate, as I had not been properly “trained” over the years, but ... read more

Okay, so it we didn't actually stay in Shreveport, but that was the only town name that was close to where we were. Okay, if anyone has google maps, hop onto it and search "Grand Cane, Louisiana" and that is the town we stayed in. So it was a bright and early start so that we could beat the early morning traffic… although the day after Christmas not many people were on the road, I suppose they were either still asleep (as we should have been) or extremely hungover from the Christmas celebrations. So at 8.30am we drove out of Roxmere Drive and headed for Grand Cane, Louisiana! The drive itself was predicted to be about 16 hours total, split over two days of driving. We crammed the 5 of us, Lucky, all luggage and my ... read more

The much awaited 3-day holiday had arrived! We left on the 18th of november (thursday) and it was off to Disneyworld, Orlando. The drive itself was only about an hour and a half seeing as we weren't going all the way into Orlando, and our hotel was only 5 minutes away from the theme parks. We arrived at Country Inns and Suites, got our room key (with only a few issues) and got settled in. We had tickets to a midnight screening of Harry Potter, and had about 8 hours to kill. We started by vegeing out on the bed and watching TV and then broke out the snacks. In the complex the hotel was in, there was a wide variety of dinner options, as listed: Kebabs, chinese buffet, mexican grill, steak and shake aaaaand ... read more

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark, Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart, you try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it, you start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes, you're paralyzed..." So the build up to Halloween has been coming for many months now, with decorations on houses and advertisements for endless costumes and scary movies. Being an Australian, I was somewhat deprived of the "trick or treat" phenomenon, as our country ACKNOWLEDGES halloween, but doesn't celebrate it as a community holiday- it is more commercial/more of an excuse for teenagers to throw a raging party, dress up like skanks and get extremely drunk. (Yes, I have participated in these parties in the past... :P) It ... read more

Okay, so it's been a little longer than I anticipated to write another blog, but i'm not doing enough things close together enough to justify writing a blog per week. So once every couple of weeks, when things get exciting. Which this week they did! Paintballing! It is a well known fact that over the years, the Beck boys have participated in paintball and become quite serious about it- guns, ammo, masks, everything was set to go. So after pulling everything out of the boxes from Australia, it was time to take the australian girls paintballing! Adam and maeghan had the pleasure of going first, and returned home that night raving about how awesome it was. Then it was up to me and the boy. About a week later, it was a last minute decision after ... read more

Rachel turns 19! So the week started like any other, Will had to go to class at 9am on monday and naturally, I slept in because my list of "things to do" is not exactly pressing. It's lovely. So what did I do this week? I dyed my hair! And finally stopped being stingy by acually going to a professional salon called "La Mirage" (google it if you're feeling adventurous). The salon itself has a spa as well, it was all really quite fancy actually: massages, waxing, facials, nails, and then the separate hairdresser. I felt out of place as soon as I turned up in my checkered shorts and converse shoes, as all the women (both staff and clients) were dressed in upper class couture and clappy clap heels. But the women were so ... read more

Okay, so I actually forgot all about the blog last week. I thought i'd done one for some reason and then realised it'd been two weeks... Time seems to be flying and I can't get it to slow down! So, what have I done these last few weeks? Well last saturday Will thought it might be interesting to take me to my first "hardcore" show, the type where he'll go off and run around in the pit to loud angry music, and i'll sit back and watch. The band that was playing was called "After the Burial" and despite the lack of actual SINGING- it was pretty good live. I got a good seat right under the air conditioner and had a clear view of the pit- and a clear view of Will climbing over everyone ... read more
