the scorpion found in my bedroom
the scorpion found in my bedroom
will I ever be able to sleep again in this bedroom????
This will be a short entry, but I just felt like sharing this with all of you guys, as it doesn°t happen every day to find a scorpion in your bedroom...I just got home tonight and let me tell you I live in a nice area in El Rodadero, a nice house, not in the middle of the jungle.. well, anyhow there it was.... in the middle of the room, staying still...as I turned on the light it probably felt something and run for cover under my backpack which was lying around on the floor...I am not the neatest girl [View Full Entry]

Visiting Cartagena turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life...the city is absolutely amazing...there are so many things to see and so many things to do..I took things slowly and started with the city center, visiting San Pedro Memorial House which is nowadays a Museum, next to the Church and it has a really nice but sad history. It looks like San Pedro, of Spanish origin got to Colombia where he started dedicating his life to the abolition of slavery, and if not total abolition, at least taking care of the slaves in the best way he [View Full Entry]

unfortunately you often see this in Colombia, though must admit not in the big cities.
terribly bored of santa marta...really fed up...for Godēs sake...choosing to spend one year of my life here?? I mean it is beautiful , with Tyrona Park, El Rodadero especially in high season, but one year! come on! so after drifting, thinking and changing my mind thousands of times, I took the plunge: I will stay in Colombia, with all the ups and downs, disappointments and everything, I will give Colombia one more chance, but!! living in another city. In the meantime, a bit of travelling canēt hurt anybody...so off I goooo...on Monday, that was yesterday , I just woke up and [View Full Entry]

though the most spoiled kids on earth, every single one having their personal driver, nanny , maid and some even bodyguard, i simply adored them!!!
Colegio Bilingue de Santa Marta is said to be one of the best private schools in Santa Marta. And it probably is. The teaching staff has less than 40 teachers, about 7-8 of them gringos, the school is pretty small, but nice, a real nice envirnoment, with excellent working conditions. You can find here the kids of some of the most powerful and richest men in the country, sons and daughters of senators, politicians. Most of them, if not all, are spoiled brats and when I say that I say it with no hard feelings....a total lack of discipline hunts the [View Full Entry]

nico, you are always the last one!!!
we got to a nice small private resort

I met quite an interesting guy the other day. He was all about " en Colombia todo se puede" and when I asked him to be more specific he told me... Colombia has the best US dollars! The best US dollars? Yeah, that's what he said! the best counterfeit ones! Also the best counterfeit Euros, they seem genuine, it´s a real pain in the but to tell if they are fake or the real thing! Also it looks like the Pope's bullet- proof car is made here because they have in Colombia the best technology to make bullet-proof items! Imagine! Of [View Full Entry]

on the way to Tayrona Park
with a bunch of greaaat people... Colombia, Germany, Peru, Costa Rica and Romania :)
This adventure started on Saturday morning when I left with some of the coolest AIESEC people Santa Marta heading for Baranquilla where we were suppose3d to spend the next 5 days. The event, SDL, Leadership Development Seminar, was absolutely great. Though we spent 5 days in a hotel, without the chance to visit Baranquilla, it was 100 % a success. The very best students in Colombia, some of the top minds, interesting debates, fun challenging activities, everything was new and fun and exciting. And after spending the entire day talking, exposing ideas , arguing on different issues concerning youth, politics, the world [View Full Entry]

when people travel to a different country and everybody talks about Cultural Shock , you don t really expect it to be something bad, negative, especially for somebody used to travelling a lot and meeting all sorts of people, cultural shock is more like a tag line, something anyway enjoyable along the way, that makes you feel that your journey was worth while, that you discovered something new, odd or not, but anyway fascinating. oh well, this is not the case here. the lack of dedication, responsibility is a cultural shock one just cant get accustomed to...saying one thing and doing another, [View Full Entry]

this blog is only about gossip, gossiping, actually more like sharing with all of you my experience here in santa marta, colombia, on the northern coast... thinking...when one goes to a foreign country, especially for a cultural experience that will take more or less one year, goes with high hopes, high expectations, but first of all open-minded, ready for a challenge, for a life changing experience...what if 3 months go by and Nothing, but Nothing happens? i start asking myself where s the problem, maybe the problem is somewhere within me, although i adapt easily and i know i am [View Full Entry]
