Car Boot Sale is a great concept and fun activity which has the added benefit of helping the car boot sellers get rid of unwanted rubbish, bits and bobs cluttering the attic, garage and wardrobes. It's basically gathering all the stuff you've collected over the years and selling them second hand with the idea of having some fun and making some profit. You know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure! :) The car boot sale we joined on Sunday was held in Cuffley on a large field. We had to wake up really early in the morning -5am ! and head towards the fields after shoving all our bags, boxes and cases in the boot of the car. Got there, paid a fiver for the pitch and started unpacking our goods: ... read more

Back in London after 6 months of absence. Thrilled to be here again, this time without having to worry about work, lesson plans, rent, hectic tube journeys etc. Landed at Luton airport on Friday afternoon and didn't get to do much that day. Woke up early on Saturday and met up with Monika, former flatmate and roamed about Portobello Road, which is the host of the world's largest antiques market. Couldn't wait to get my hands on a large Starbucks Caramel Frappucino that really made my day!!! :) Enjoy pictures with lovely sis, Monika and I ! ... read more

After a brilliant Christmas in London I returned home for New Year's Eve. My adventures abroad finish here, at least for now. I'm happy to be home and excited to see how my country has changed and how I can bring my bit of contribution to the Romanian society. I've learnt a lot, I've grown professionally as well as personally and feel extremely proud with everything I've accomplished so far. I am looking forward to this new episode in my life and I've got a feeling it is going to be great! It actually cannot be anything but great! I wish you a fab 2009, may you be happy and may all your dreams come true! Happy New Year!... read more

Andrea, my flatmate and fellow teacher at Access College and I have booked ourselves a cheap flight and two beds in a hostel in Barcelona. I've planned one last get-away before my big departure at the end of the month, as I am very tired of London. After Mike and my sister's huge birthday party on Friday, I only got 4 hours of sleep. I woke up just in time to take a shower and get ready before heading off to Luton and fly to Barcelona for the weekend. Andreea herself was coming home from a date and I had to meet her on the way to the station! She rang to tell me to get her passport as she was running late. We enjoyed an adventure-packed weekend, which started with sleeping in a 8-bed dormitory ... read more

AccessCollege is a small private school in Wimbledon offering English Language Courses, Foundation Degree courses and Graduate programmes. I enjoyed myself very much teaching Ielts, Conversation and one-on-one classes there. My Ielts group was very keen on progressing rapidly and they all gave their best in class. I ran a multilingual group comprising students from Thailand, Mexico,Turkey,France, Nigeria, Brazil,Poland, Italy, etc a great bunch of young people with a very specific goal: to pass the Ielts examination successfully. Most of them are aiming to go into higher education in the Uk and in order to achieve their goal, they need to prove a high level of oral and written proficiency in English. This is part of the eligibility criteria they have to comply with in order to enrol on an undergraduate or postgraduate course. ... read more

Getting away from London at the weekend has become lately my favourite hobby. It doesn't really matter if it's a town a few hours away from the mad capital or a city in Europe where you can get only by flying or...in this case crossing the English Channel by ferry. All that really matters is getting away for the weekend. Monika, my Slovak friend with whom I'm sharing a flat in Wimbledon has decided to tag along, so we joined a group of excited students on a promising trip to Boulogne. Boulogne is a small fisherman town on the coast of France, very close to Calais. It took us ages to get there, although we left London from Shephard's Bush before sunrise. There were major delays on the way and as it happened, we also had the ... read more

I've visited Oxford twice this year, so I thought that 1 entry dedicated to this lovely English town would suffice. On my first day-trip there I went along with some Aiesec friends and on the second one my sister joined me. It was an organised weekend tour for international students studying in London. The University of Oxford comprises 38 colleges. Each college has a dining hall,a chapel, a library, a college bar, rooms for students, as well as lodgings for the head of the college. The college buildings range from medieval to modern buildings. Harry Potter was filmed in the dining hall of Christ Church College. The scene in the movie represents Hogwarts' dining hall and Christ Chirch College is open for visiting to tourists. I had a whale of a time on both occasions ... read more

STONEHENGE is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire county. Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. The iconic stone monument was erected around 2300BC. The function of STONEHENGE remains unknown, it is believed that its role was that of an astronomical observatory. It is not denied the possibility of having been used by Druids for worship and to have functioned as a religious site. Despite the fact that the weather was unkind to us, I really enjoyed standing face to face with this monumental site that I had only seen and read about in books. It felt almost mystical walking the paths that go round the stones, admiring the huge rocks and listening to stories- in fact mere speculations- concerning the erection of this unmatched monument. We also enjoyed a ... read more

My second visit home has been fab! Pampered and spoiled again by my beloved parents, they took me to Ostroveni for a few days, where we enjoyed a great, sunny weather. We went for swims and tried to catch some suntan at day and went for strolls in the near-by city in the evenings. I am truly blessed with the best parents in the world!... read more
