This blog is an account of my travels, my experiences abroad, starting with Turkey in 2004, straight after graduating from university, my teaching internship in Colombia for a whole year and my 2 years spent in London which gave me the amazing opportunity to travel to Belgium, France and Spain. pink mona
I'm back in Romania and I'm here to stay. I've discovered that my contry is not so bad after all. And besides, we can't all just walk away and stop caring! Somebody has to care, somebody has to take a stand and to make a difference. I AM THE DIFFERENCE I WANT TO SEE IN THIS WORLD. We often judge our own kind for not being open-minded or civilised enough, compared to the western world. But how and what would I call myself if I didn't understand that changing takes time and we need patience if we are to change mentalities in this country! So I am investing every penny I've got in a brand new project, putting all my energy into an English Center that will rock this world!! A passion for travelling, writing and taking pictures are a good enough reason to carry on with my blog, so there's definitely more coming up. Just stay tuned!!

Romania's got beauty, indeed. I think I've never denied it, but I've never embraced the idea, either. But ROMANIA HAS GOT BEAUTY. Beauty we do not promote or capitalise on, but nevertheless Romania's got tremendous natural and man-made beauty. History. Culture. Despite the horrible weather, I went into raptures about the historical monuments, cathedrals and sites we visited this past weekend. Amazed, delighted, mesmerised, bewitched. In addition, the German influence has definitely left its mark on the level of culture, civilisation and people's life-style. 'Thank you', 'sorry' and 'pardon' are just as often heard here as anywhere else in the civilised world. Amen to that! It's been a lovely day with sunny spells and some scattered showers. We decided to head off to MUZEUL GOLESTI which is a breath-taking traditional Romanian village with small traditional cottages, a church and school and horse stables, all gathered around the old mansion which used to belong to Dinicu Golescu (1777-1830), a wealthy and wise Romanian landowner who lived in the 18th/19th century. It is on account of many social and political enterprises and projects which he undertook and due to his thinking and understanding of the surrounding world that were far ahead of his time, that his life and enlightened attitude remain as a true landmark in the Romanian history. Sunday 27th March 2011. Woke up at 6 am ( 5 am!! if we don't take into account the summer saving time change). Drove myself to Bucharest yyyeeeey !!! Got there in 1 piece yeeeey!!! Took part in a 6h CPE seminar. Loved every bit of it! Met interesting people. Completed several activities and tasks on CPE exam format, tips and strategies. Had a 20 min lunch break. Did some more pair work and studying. Received an attendance certificate. Took some pics to remember the day and the seminar. Thanked our tutor Ioana Serban and said our goodbyes. Drove myself home. 5 pm. Home safe and sound. In one piece. Yeeey!!! :) ... read more

Acesta este un pamflet. Orice asemănare cu lumea oamenilor este cel puțin bizară. Veverița a fost crescută sub sloganul ''Lasă de la tine, ca să fie bine". Să fie bine. Să nu supere, să nu deranjeze pe nimeni. Și cea mai mare parte a vieții ei veverița s-a conformat. A închis ochii și a lăsat de la ea, ca să fie bine. Ca să fie alții mulțumiți de ea, ca să nu deranjeze, să nu supere pe nimeni in jur, urmând ideea bătranei sale mame, ursoaica: "Maică, să nu superi pe nimeni, să duci o viața liniștita și cu frica lui Dumnezeu, să nu aibă nimeni ce să spună rău despre tine. Cand am intrat astazi in Spitalul Sfantul Pantelimon am avut senzatia ca am intrat intr-o cladire care a fost bombardata in vreun razboi mondial si a fost lasata in paragina. Pe langa aspectul de bombardament al peretilor si tavanurilor cu tencuiala cazuta, am fost izbita de un miros puternic de urina si am avut instantaneu senzatia ca o sa vomit. Cuvantul igiena, asociat in mintea mea cu ideea de spital nu s-ar simti deloc in largul lui aici. Un jeg si o mizerie care colcaie nu poate fi descrisa suficient in cuvinte, de aceea am facut poze care vorbesc de la sine. Am urcat la etajul 5 incercand sa imi tin respiratia. Intreaga sectie pute a urina, deoarece sarmanii pacienti internati aici sunt majoritatea cu picioare si maine rupte, dizlocate si nu pot folosi cu ... read more

Sorry to barge in after what has been quite a longish period of no entries with one that is going to make many eyebrows frown and will undoubtedly reignite some old and heated debates, previously posted and discussed on my page. For the past 2 weeks I've been, once again, through an emotional roller coaster that has not finished yet. For the past 2 weeks I've seen a dozen doctors and although I was hospitalised in A&E FUNDENI nobody bothered to have a look at me until I, the patient, bothered to push around some money. I was admitted on Friday the 19th November , 4pm. After some preliminary investigations I was taken upstairs to the Cardiology ward where I was given a bed to sleep in and LEFT there. For 5 hours. Terra Mitica in Benidorm is an amazing place where you can spend a day out. The entertainment park brings together Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. There are great water slides, roller coasters- the longest wooden one in Europe! which we went on!! :) , boat rides, and shows of Gladiatores, pirates or belly dancers. We enjoyed Barbarroja so much, that we went to see it twice! It was absolutely AMAZING!! :)... read more
