Serban Mona
This blog is about my travels, my life, my adventures, my thoughts and my feelings. I'm not doing that much travelling any more, as I'm settling in London for the time being, but a passion for writing and taking photos are a good excuse to carry on with my blog.
Lived one year in Turkey, Eskisehir, doing an AIESEC internship, and another one in Colombia, as an EFL teacher, still with AIESEC.

Met great people and was confronted with cultural shocks that changed my views on life forever. Most importantly, I discovered how incredibly strong I am. Studying Marketing in England now and planning to be based here for a few years, though I'm not sure it's the country where I'd like to spend the rest of my life.
After living in Colombia, nothing seems good enough....
Many thanks to Danny for recovering my 12 lost entries!!!

It's been long, too long, hasn't it? Hello my friends. The word of the day is IRONY...life is irony...we should always watch what we say and weigh every word that comes out of our mouth.. my last blog post in February......if you go an entry back and read, you'll see how I was saying that I hate London for sirens, for Ambulances and Police cars running up the streets rushing to save somebody...how often they do this in London, meaning how often some body's hurt and desperately needs them....how you hear them even several times a day... ........... Only a [View Full Entry]

Shopping on Oxford Street.

I'm moving homes and changing jobs. February proves to be packed with changes for me. I love changes, I adore changes, they make me feel alive and not stuck in a rut. Changing home is in fact just a figure of speech -I am craving to have my own cosy little room in a shared flat in London but for now I'm just gonna be filling my sister's room with my definitively too many! River Island, Zara and Office belongings and crash at her place for 2-3 weeks. Also filling the void as she's most of the time not there [View Full Entry]

Ollie, the absolutely sweetest girl in the world. Shared many laughters and great moments together. It was like reliving my childhood all over again (only 10 times better and more fun :) ) The first snowman made together, the Valentine's Day heart cookies, the dancing in the hallway, the playdates with Shianne and Kirsy, going to the park with Holly and Ted, studying together for SATS...I treasure those moments forever. These are just a few photos of 9 months spent together :). I miss you, kiddo! [View Full Entry]

The add on tv doesn't do it justice. It predicts a boring English movie directed by an American ('Friends' star David Schwimmer). That's the impression I got. But seeing the RUN FAT BOY RUN poster on every bus every day for the past 10 days at least 20 times/day, I thought " what the hell! let's give this movie a chance and see what all the fuss is about"!! And let me tell you it is the best piece of cinematographic art I've seen in a while! It is about an average, ordinary Londoner with a lame job and a past he [View Full Entry]

Interesting facts about Belgium: Roughly, the population is about 11 million. There are the Flemings in the North, speaking Flemish and the Waloons in the South speaking French. The official languages are Dutch, French and German. National Geographic says, I quote: " There are three regions in the federal state: Flanders in the north (with 5.8 million people) where the official language is Dutch; Wallonia in the south (with 3.3 million people) where French is the official language; and Brussels-Capital region (950,000 people) where both languages are used. The smaller German-speaking community (about 70,000) is in Wallonia. The regions and language communities [View Full Entry]

Day 1-Monday 12 Sept. Leaving London from Stansted airport at 6.40 am, arriving in Brussels at 8.50 am local time, that means 1h10 min in the air. Met up with Adi,one of my sister's ex-es who lives in Paris now.First thing's first- we had breakfast in a cafe, actually on the terrace and although it was early in the morning they apparently ran out of croissants and the three of us had to share the last one.Delicious! Not having booked a room before arrival, we just popped in different hotels nearby the city center and managed to get a triple bed-ed [View Full Entry]

I grew up in a country which didn't have much to offer at that time(80's-90's Romania). We didn't have much.We didn't have bikes to ride after school. We didn't have extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs. We didn't have cricket club or drama or piano lessons or swimming or riding...all we had was school. And books. And loads of homework. This was a Communist country where the only entertainment we had was one hour of cartoons on TV on Sunday. And many times not even that. The power cut would often take away this only pleasure we would so much look forward to. It was tough [View Full Entry]

There's very small step from being self-confident and self-assured to being self-obsessed.Is this where our society is going towards? Might be! Look at me! I love posting photos of myself. I don&... [more]
If you are not on facebook you do not exist. Lol...true? false?shallow thinking? Dunno. But it is for sure that Internet works wonders! And the latest craze world wide is facebook. It's just unbelievable how people can keep in touch so mush easier and actually find friends long forgotten. It's also a clear sign of a society where most of us are obsessed with ourselves. We, the 21st century people think so much of ourselves!Look at the number of web pages dedicated to ourselves, our stories, our lives, our unique adventures. Look at the number of blogs and myspaces where people post [View Full Entry]

Me sad. Managed to get my 1st fine here :(. For overstaying my parking 3 minutes!!! So not fair!! My parking was expiring at 14.14 and my watch was exactly 14.14 when I got to the car, but that aweful lady's watch was 14.17 and she gave me a 40£ fine :((((. Me sad. Very sad. I'll try to write a letter and see if I can cancel it. Gosh, and I've been back in London for only 1day and a half. Should I take that as a bad sign and abandon ship? :))).Lol. Anyways, a very lovely day otherwise, [View Full Entry]

Got a bit lazy at writing. Doing a lot of analyzing of British society in general and will soon post an article with my thoughts on this subject. In the meantime did a bit of travelling, just a week in Cannes, got a very nice suntan which will probably go away in no time and will have to do what is annoyingly very hip here- get some fake tan! 50p/minute, not bad at all!! France was fabulous ( very British overused word), had a nice time and some decent weather! Didn't honestly do much, just shopping, strolling, sightseeing and trying to [View Full Entry]
